Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. The organization started its humanitarian work with the opening of its first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. The organization has been providing life-saving provisions such as food, water and health services for a very significant number of children devastated by severe drought and the subsequent famine.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia aspires that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

We are looking for a Project Finance Coordinator who will be responsible for ensuring the financial resource allocated for the project is managed in accordance with the SOS-CVE’s financial and accounting policies and procedures and donor contract agreement and monitoring the financial progress of the project.

Your role....

As a Project Finance Coordinator, you will be in charge of the following:

  • Managing and monitoring income, expenditure and the monthly bank reconciliation and financial plan
  • Assisting with the transfer of funds to projects
  • Monitoring real accounts and timely settlement of payment reports regularly
  • Checking that vouchers and receipts submitted by the projects/programmes are complete and correcting  where necessary
  • Advising on financial aspects of projects
  • Carrying out internal controls in accordance with SOS CVE’s internal controlling procedures  and accordance with donor standard procedures
  • Create and maintaining proper and well-standardized office inventory list
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly/ annual analysis of expenditure
  • Ensuring exchange of information between project staff, partners and other institutions related to accounting and financial matter.
  • Ensuring proper filing (electronic or hard copy) of grants financial reports
  • Preparing staff payroll & updating payroll information
  • Following up on timely submission and review of project Cash, and Bank registers including reconciliations as per the deadline set.
  • Reviewing and consolidating cash forecasts from project offices for timely update of liquidity plan and ensuring timely transfers to projects account.
  • Maintaining donor income schedule including receipts and projections.
  • Ensuring compliance of SOS CVE project with relevant tax regulations

The must haves:

  •  BA degree or comparable qualification from a commercial academy (accounting) with sound professional experience in finance management
  • Fluency in English (official language) and working knowledge of (other or local languages)
  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in a comparable position
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting software
  • Good working knowledge of computer applications and  financial software applications
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility
  • Integrity
  • Excellent understanding of accounting practice, policies and procedures
  • Hands-on Experience in Budget preparation and controlling
  • Detail orientation
