Job Description

The Attorney is in charge of overseeing court cases engaged by the company. He/she will safeguard the company reputation by securing that the company strictly follows National laws, regulations and police and procedure manuals. Moreover, he/she is expected to give legal advice and support to the different functions or management team about all relevant issues.

 Key responsibilities

1.      LITIGATION

Ø  Initiates appropriate legal action on all claims referred by the management & other operating units

Ø  Conducts fact finding and preliminary investigations of suits brought by or against the Company & submits findings & recommendations thereof to the CLO;

Ø  Prepares pleadings, motions and other court legal processes in connection with cases involving the Company;

Ø  Monitors the status of cases already filed before the courts or quasi-judicial bodies and submits appropriate status reports;

Ø  Appears on cases involving the company

Ø  Act as a legal consultant for the Company in any legal matters, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings before the court and quasi-judiciary body.

Ø  Review litigation and regulatory actions against competitors to identify potential areas of legal risk that may apply to the company, and to advise the Company of potential exposure.

Ø  Conducts researches and studies of applicable laws, rules, regulations, doctrines, principles, or jurisprudence that may aid in the prosecution and litigation of cases

Ø  Performs other duties as may be deemed necessary

2.      ADVISORY

Ø  prepare contracts/agreements that may be entered into by the Company with other government agencies or private corporation/individuals;

Ø  Renders opinions, comments, recommendations on complex legal queries and issues involving the operations of the Company;

Ø  Conduct legal researches and studies on points of law that may enhance the accomplishment of the Company’s tasks;

Ø  Conducts judicious studies and researches on points of law and matters that may enhance the accomplishment of Company’s tasks;

Ø  Review proposed and enacted regulation and legislation to identify legal risks and advise business partners in a timely way of additional compliance and legal risk issues.

Ø  Delivering training and updates on key regulatory and technical legal areas Staffs under the department perform their duties effectively and efficiently

Ø  Proper legal advice that solve problems are delivered

Ø  Risk assessment polices and process are formulated

Ø  Risks are identified in early stage and avoided and minimized before they are out of hand

Ø  Prepares and renders opinions, legal advices or comments on legal issues/queries concerning the operations of any of the Company offices & departments;

Ø  Prepares and/or reviews contracts/agreements that may be entered into by the Company with other government agencies or private corporations/individuals, conducts research and analysis of the pertinent laws, legal doctrines, principles and precedents applicable thereto;

Ø  Prepares and/or reviews other legal documents

Ø  Assisting the operational departments in preparing of reply to legal notices received.

Ø  Conducts judicious studies and researches on points of law and matters that may enhance the accomplishment of Company’s tasks;

Ø  Review all customer, employee and client complaints and suits to identify trends that may indicate potential legal risks that need attention.

Ø  Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.

 

COMPLIANCE AND RISK MANAGEMENT

Ø  Keep management abreast of all new laws and regulations that may have implication to the Company

Ø  Prepares comments on legal queries made or issues raised by other government departments or agencies, on matters affecting/relating to the operations of the Company;

Ø  Review and draft company legal documents to make sure that they comply with all federal and state law and regulations

Ø  Evaluate legal risk and formulates responses and plans of action for mitigating and responding those risks

Ø  Recommends legal actions and gives advice to the Company and its employees on matters of law concerning office operations to ensure that company activities are in strict compliance with new and existing legislations;

Ø  Review advertising and marketing materials to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Ø  Prepares and renders opinions, legal advices or comments on legal issues/queries concerning the operations of any of the Company offices & departments;

Ø  Prepares and/or reviews other legal documents

Ø  Conducts judicious studies and researches on points of law and matters that may enhance the accomplishment of Company’s tasks;

Ø  Perform other duties as may be necessary.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

  • Reporting Skills, Research Skills, Legal Administration Skills, Litigation, Client Relationships,
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in the English language
  • Spelling, proofreading skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Office packages
  • Professional manner, integrity and a willingness to accept responsibility and to produce quality work output within quick turnaround times
  • Energetic, eager and positive work outlook with an ability to manage multiple tasks to achieve results
  • Confidentiality, Dependability, Client Confidentiality
  • Desire to work as part of a small, informal legal team to achieve success
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a corporate /commercial / labour law environment is preferable
  • Speaking Afan Oromo is more preferable


Applicant need LLB degree with 2 years experience, we want applicant with good analytical skill, sound judgment, good communication and research skill and have professional ethics and integrity.

Affan Oromo is a must.
