Job Description

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.

The employee will work within the Data Management and Biostatistics Team and uses skills in coding to maintain secure databases. A Data Manager/Biostatician uses their training in analytics and various coding programs to analyze information and draw conclusions based on their findings. Additionally, using mathematical and statistical theory methods, they present findings to management which are then used to improve various initiatives within the institute.

AHRI would like to hire energetic and qualified candidate in the position of Assistant Researcher (Data Manager) under Knowledge Management Directorate.

The Role of Assistant Researcher:

The Assistant Researcher shall be based at AHRI and perform quality data entry, ensure proper and timely documentation of data, closely communicate with the field and lab coordinators for proper data entry and documentation. 

Job Description

Principal Responsibilities:

-       Assist Data analysis 

-       Assist maintenance of database server maintenance

-       Assist data Entry and design quality data entry protocol

-       Closely interacts with the field and lab coordinators for quality data entry

-       Ensures proper documentation of files (consent forms, CRFs, source documents, essential documents) safe and secure

-       Keeps confidentiality of data and documents

-       Archiving data

-       Closely work with Biostatician and  Data managers

-       Ability to work with others/team work, including international collaborators

Job Requirements

Education, Experience & Skills:

-       BSc degree in Computer Science/IT/Health Informatics/MIS/Statics from an accredited institution And two years direct experience; OR

-       MSc degree  in Computer Science/IT/Health Informatics/MIS/Statics from an accredited institution

-       Knowledge and/or experience of Redcap and Openclinica  is required

-       Knowledge and /or experience of  postgreSQL/MySQL is an advantage.

-       Knowledge of STATA/R and/or SAS programming is an added advantage

-       Knowledge in developing interactive, database-driven web tools

-       Experience in Big Data analysis is an additional
