Job Description

The Senior Accountant will work with PHE EC Finance Section and perform financial transaction & accounting Functions. She/he review and verify head offices and partners project offices’ finical documents, financial utilization status and reports. Ensure that planned activities of CSF III project are implemented as per the budget schedule at head office and projects office.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure that proper financial record and documentation procedure are operated.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are compliant with internal policies and donor regulations.
  • Responsible for receiving all the documents from the project field offices of PHE ECs and partners.
  • Responsible for the preparation of vouchers, and checks for all project expenditures; ensure that all payments are supported by documentation as required by donor regulations and are allocated to the appropriate cost category. 
  • Maintain a comprehensive filling system for financial and administrative (personnel) documents of project staff.
  • Follow up all purchase items GRN, GIN & store management.
  • Ensure the processing of all travel facilities and advance requests and travel expense reports, checking for accuracy and compliance with donor and PHE regulations.
  • Prepare monthly payroll. 
  • Prepare and compile all the financial documents for a  monthly, quarterly and biannual financial and administrative reports,
  • Put in place the support services, including transportation, security, utilities, insurance, telephones and maintenance services.
  • Follow-up the use of the vehicles and daily errands, ensuring that vehicle logs are properly maintained.
  • Perform any other duties as required and/or assigned by the finance and Operation Head and the Executive Director.   

Job Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • BA degree in Accounting from recognized college with 5 year relevant work.
  • Experience in an NGO environment is desirable.
  • Experience in organizing training and workshops including organizing logistics, preparing budgets.
  • Quality experience in general Accounting Principles and Procedures and IPSAS
  • Computer proficiency in Peachtree or quick book and MS Applications and Experience is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work proactively, organize and manage own work and assist others to do the same.
