Job Purpose

Under general supervision of garage team head, inspects diagnoses and repairs gasoline and diesel powered automotive, truck, and a variety of other power-driven equipment; and perform other related duties, as assigned.

 Scope: Responsible for all company vehicles across all business units repair and maintenance related issues.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Ø  Inspects and diagnoses mechanical and electrical malfunctions in automobiles and light trucks.

Ø  Repairs and replaces defective or worn parts and accessories.

Ø  Performs preventive maintenance work, lubrication and inspection on automobiles and light trucks.

Ø  Performs major and minor engine tune-ups. Also overhauls engines, transmissions, differentials, front ends, steering gears and braking systems.

Ø  Operates diagnostic equipment and evaluates readings.

Ø  Diagnose auto/truck air conditioners and repairs.

Ø  Repairs brakes and related components and repairs tires and tubes.

Ø  Responds to service calls on trip

Ø  Performs a variety of technical and skilled mechanic functions for vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair, including, but not limited to, fleet vehicles, such as automobiles and light trucks; light and heavy equipment, tools and equipment.

Ø  Operates a variety of tools, welding equipment, and mechanical equipment.

Ø  Conducts road testing to ensure that vehicles and equipment operate within prescribed parameters.

Ø  Reads and interprets manuals, drawings, and specifications.

Ø  Provides lead direction and training to lower-level staff; reviews completed work to ensure quality and completeness; and provides input to supervisor on staff performance.

Ø  Evaluates assigned work projects, including materials and staff resources needed to perform the work; estimates time, materials, and equipment necessary for the successful completion of work projects; acquires necessary resources as appropriate.

Ø  Inspects vehicles and equipment for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and maintenance needs to supervisor.

Ø  Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.

Ø  Maintains records and logs of daily activities.

Ø  Assists with District special events as needed.

Ø  Performs related duties as assigned.

 Experience & Education

ü  5 years of experience with diploma in auto mechanic from college or TVET

ü  3 years of experience with Degree in auto mechanics from college or university

ü  Seven years of experience with level four auto mechanics from TVET

ü  It is a must at least to hold qualified & Authorized driving license for automobile

ü  It is mandatory to have an experience of engine service
