Tourism Ethiopia is a government organization tasked with the development of Ethiopia’s tourist destinations, market and promotes destinations at national and international level through employing competitive marketing and promotional strategies to open new tourism opportunities, generate jobs and revenue for Ethiopia.

Tourism Ethiopia has crafted MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events and Exhibitions) Tourism Strategy, with the support of the World Bank Group /International Financial Corporation (WB / IFC), to support Ethiopia’s MICE sector. The strategy document signifies Ethiopia as a convenient and appealing destination for organizing international meetings, conferences and events. In this regard, to lead the sector in an integrated manner, National Tourism Convention Bureau has been established. To support this first National Tourism Convention Bureau, Tourism Ethiopia is collaborating and working with international team of consultants and advisors, to learn and develop Ethiopia’s MICE sector.

Therefore, as part of the National Tourism Convention Bureau formation. Tourism Ethiopia would like to invite qualified applicants to apply for MICE Tourism Sales and Bidding Expert III vacant position.

Description of duties and responsibilities

• Promote Ethiopia for a MICE tourism destination
• Actively source meetings, incentives, and conferences business leads
• Assist with the generation and qualification of MICE sales leads for future business events
• Serve as the first point of contact and handle customer enquiries
• Conduct sales activities including promotions, tradeshows attendances and presentations
• Prepare and deliver regular sales and activity reports as required
• Send sales leads to industry partners and coordinate their responses to clients
• Coordinate venue management and external suppliers for meetings, conferences and events
• Prepare and manage international technical bid proposals
• Collects and manages data of MICE Products and Facilities (Venues, Accommodation, Event Organizers, etc.) and incorporates on a bid document;
• Follows open bids and submits bid documents accordingly፤
• Attends international Trade Fairs, Exhibitions, forums, etc. to sell Ethiopia’s MICE products and services to Meeting Buyers, Meeting Planners, etc.

Required qualification and work experience:

• Qualification: Tourism Management, Tourism Development and management, Event organizing, Event management, Hospitality Management, Marketing.
• Work Experience: 4 years For BA Degree and 2 years for MA Degree.
