The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Unions (CETU) is un-umbrella organization for Nine National Industrial Trade Unions Federations which consist over 2001 basic trade unions. Its total membership is over 500,000. It has seven branch offices at different national regions of the country. Namely, Mekele, Awassa, Diredawa, Jimma, Bahirdar, Kombolcah and Nazereth. Its major objectives are defending the rights and interest of Ethiopian workers, organized workers, and strengthen the unity of those workers, building their capacity and contribute its due share for peace, democracy, human rights, people’s equality, defense poverty by carrying on awareness and capacity building trainings for workers to be efficient on their work and productivity.
The Confederation of Ethiopian Trade unions (CETU) is looking for a project coordinator for CETU’s component of the project “Policy Dialogue and Civil Society Action to Promote and Defend the rights of Domestic Workers” financed by the EuropeanCommissionCall for Proposals for Large Grants 2019’’. Realized by the Confederation of Ethiopian trade unions, (CETU),the project will have a duration of 36 months and aims at contrasting Domestic workers gap in Ethiopia and the project general objective is: to strengthening citizens’ voices for policy dialogue and sustainability contribution of CSOs to reduce domestic workers’ violence and abuse.
Purpose of the position
The Project Coordinator will have responsibility for the overall implementation, technical coordination, management and delivery of expected results of the project in ‘Promoting Decent Domestic Work in Ethiopia: Policy Dialogue and Civil Society action to promote and defend the right of domestic workers” in selected areas of Ethiopia. Project Coordinator is responsible for closely supporting implementation of the EU funded project, coordinate project area office activities through the development of annual action plans, effective project tracking, budget tracking and reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinating CETU’s project activities, in collaboration with the co applicant and partners, beneficiaries and all the other stakeholders.
- Responsible for overall planning and implementation of the requirement for effective and efficient manner so that targets and overall program objectives will be achieved
- Maintain regular contact with project staff on programmatic issues and oversees the work of the program team.
- Coordinating and monitoring CETU’s activities for the project, ensuring the achievement of the foreseen results;
- Assuring constant reporting of results implementation to the donor respecting the fixed deadlines and submitting periodic project reports (both narrative and financial ones);
- Ensuring compliance with EU rules and regulation during the implementation of the project;
- Assuring activities’ implementation according to donor’s prescriptions, ensuring the sustainability of the project and following criteria of good performance.
- Monitoring CETU’s partner as well as the operative and financial components of the project.
- Providing visibility and communication materials, document good practices of the project success in collaboration with CETU’s staff
- Overseeing the implementation of visibility actions foreseen by the project, assuring the compliance with donor’s guidelines (EU);
- Maintaining relations with donors and participating actively to the different coordination systems.
- Promote and facilitate a knowledge sharing and learning culture across the implementing team
- Keep abreast on socio-economic and political changes and undertake timely strategic review of the intervention strategy ensuring relevance of the program
Job Requirement
BA Degree or Master’s in:
- Gender and ,Developmental studies, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science, Human Rights, Social works, and Management
Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience in similar project and positions (required);
- Proven experience in managing EU funded project (required);
- Previous experience in countering against domestic workers, cluster development, employment support schemes, workers’ rights trainings, value chain development, (strongly preferred);
- Previous experience on women empowerment (preferred);
- Experiences in an NGO or an international organization with growing responsibilities
- Good experience and knowledge in programming, implementation, M&E and capacity building projects or programs.
- Proved experience and skills in donor/EU/ reporting in English.
- Experience in participatory planning and review techniques, and Strong capacity building and facilitation skills is an advantage.
- Strong experience in narrative and financial reporting, financial management, budget control.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft basics and internet (MS Word, Excel, Access and Power point);

Personal Qualities:

- Very good working knowledge of MS Office, including MS Access (required).
- Self-motivated, creative and solutions-oriented with desire to provide high quality
- Experience in and excellent understanding of Ethiopian country context./law
- Excellent communication skills.
