Job Description
Shemu Group is a conglomerate companies composed of Shemu PLC, Asveza Ethiopia Retailing Share Company and other functional private limited companies with a fast growth track record. The Companies in the group engaged in manufacturing (liquid soap, bar soap, Edible oil and shortening products), retail service providing, printing, trading and engineering. Based on this, our Holding office want to hire competent, energetic, enthusiastic and capable applicants for the post we have.
Financial Planning Budgeting and Forecasting
- Responsible for the overall financial planning, budgeting, monitoring and forecasting of Shemu Group companies.
- Responsible for financial and management reporting for Shemu group CEO and DCEO whilst ensuring timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of the data.
- Review budget vs. actual reports for accuracy and provide commentary to management and user departments as issues arise
- Develop and implement financing strategies for Shemu Group companies including tax and investment strategies.
- Manage company cash allocation plan.
- Responsible for overall Group tax planning and ensuring that the Group remain tax compliant.
- Contribute to business-wide strategic planning and strategy development of Shemu Group as a member of the strategic leadership team, formulating the group's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
- Manage the capital request and budgeting processes.
- Develop performance measures that support the group's strategic direction, monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans.
Financing
- Search appropriate financial sources to fund demands of portfolios.
Financial Management
- Overall responsibility for development and implementation of appropriate internal control systems and financial procedures across the Companies and ensure adherence to the Group policies.
- Implement and maintain accounting policy and processes in compliance with both IFRS and/or local regulatory guidance
- Develop and implement improvements to financial controls.
- Oversee the financial operations of companies in the Grup. Ensure accounts payable are paid, and accounts receivable collected, in a timely manner. Oversee all ledger and bank account reconciliations
- Implement financial management operational best practices and oversee the company's transaction processing systems.
- Responsible for the preparation of the Group’s financial reports based on regulatory and legal requirements for both the company and the group (consolidated).
- Maintain appropriate Company documentation and compliance with regulatory and tax-related requirements
- Identify financial risks and take part in developing strategies to overcome these risks.
- Provide guidance to the finance functions of the companies
- Oversee the issuance of financial information.
- Oversee the consolidation of financial statements, budget vs. actual reporting, and other reports as required, providing commentary and ensuring accurate and timely presentation to management/ funders as required
- Coordinate the provision of information to internal and external auditors
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Maintain accounting software system and initiate periodic improvements
Leadership and Management
- Participate in key decisions as a member of the strategic leadership team and maintain in-depth relations with all members of the leadership team.
- Manage the accounting, investor relations, tax, and treasury departments.
- Manage any third parties to which functions that have been outsourced.
- Provide leadership in negotiating contracts and agreements at corporate level (e.g. property acquisitions and development, banking arrangements).
- Manage the team’s performance by determining targets, managing planned activities, reviewing key performance areas and control of direct subordinates, providing leadership, training, recruitment and selection, motivation
- Assess skills of department members and develop a training plan to ensure they are continuing to become more effective
- Provide overall leadership for the day-to-day operations of Finance Department in the Group.
- Provide feedback in a constructive way to peers, subordinates, DCEO and CEO
Investment and funding
- Responsible for managing overall treasury which includes cash flow planning, negotiating for investments and monitoring performance
- Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts to support investment decisions
Stakeholders / Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with key business partners (including banks, auditors, actuaries and regulatory bodies)
- Maintain banking relationships
Job Requirements
- M.A./ B.A. degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a relevant field
- Relevant professional qualification; (ACCA/CPA/CA)- added advantage
Required Experience
- 8/10 years’ relevant experience with at least 4/5 years at leadership level
Competencies
- Strong leadership, task management, planning and organizational skills.
- Hands on experience in financial planning, strategy development, financial forecasting, corporate finance and developing organizational budgets.
- Track record in achieving financial reporting deadlines
- Capable to manage profitability and find creative solutions addressing financial problems
- Good analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
- A self-starter, high energy level with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong team player with a “roll up your sleeves and get the job done” attitude
- Extremely detail-oriented, efficient and able to multi-task, prioritize, manage and follow projects through to completion.
- Must have high standards of integrity, ethics and confidentiality
- Hands on ERP Package Microsoft Dynamics Nav.
- Driving Skill
- Manufacturing Sector experience will be an added advantage
