Background

Established in 1989, EPHA has been implementing national and continental projects/programs for the last 31 years with the aim to promote better health services for the public and uphold professional standards through advocacy, active involvement and networking. According to the new proclamation number 1113/2011 EPHA has re-registered by the Ethiopian Agency for Civil Society Organization (ACSO) as a local organization.

The Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) would like to hire competent and experienced personnel for the vacant post as indicated below.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to plan, coordinate, monitor and direct the overall activities of the unit; promote, coordinate, support and conduct members recruitment and registration functions and campaigns; coordinates, supports and advises chapter offices to promote and recruits members; ensures proper members’ profile database is maintained and periodic status reports produced; strengthen the efficiency and effectiveness of networking functions; lead, coach, monitor and supervise staff under his/her supervision; and produce periodic activity reports. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, monitors and directs the overall activities of membership and networking functions.
  • Develops short and medium term plans, budgets and activity schedules of the unit.
  • Develops guidelines for agitating health professionals to become members of EPHA and register those who are willing to be members.
  • Encourages members to pay their membership fees on time.
  • Ensures networking of EPHA with national, regional and international health associations, institutions and collaborators and creates employment and learning opportunities for members.
  • Coordinates annual conferences and evaluates the process of conferences, and records suggestions of the General Assembly and prepares proceedings and reports on conferences undertaken.
  • Ensures proper and updated members’ profile database is maintained and reports are periodically produced and keeps statistics of active and non-active members.
  • Works with concerned units to increase income generated from members, chapters, local& international sources etc.
  • Prepares guidelines for strengthening the Chapters Offices.
  • Supports and follows up the activities of chapters in recruitment of new members and timely collection of membership fees.
  • Makes cloth supervision that Chapters collect fees from members on time;
  • Ensures that Chapters distributes EPHA’s publications to members, educational institutions, health centers and others identified by EPHA on time.
  • Makes close contacts by visiting Chapters’ sites and review their operational status and challenges and devises mechanisms to address the challenges.
  • Attends relevant meetings and conferences to keep informed about current trends, issues, and methods of implementing networking.
  • Supports and provides inputs to the professional development and training team in the identification of key professional development areas of members.
  • Supervises, leads, guides and supports staff responsible to her/him.
  • Produces periodic reports
  • Perform other duties as directed by the immediate supervisor. 


Job Requirements

 Specification

  • MSC/MA/MBA in Public Health/Management/ Economics/ Social Work/ Public Relations/ Communication with 6 years of relevant work experience, of which 2 years in supervisory role

OR

  •  BSC/BA in Public Health/Management/Economics/Social Work/ Public Relations/ Communication with 8 years of relevant experience, of which 3 years in supervisory role
