Job Description

Organization For Welfare and Development in Action (OWDA) is an Ethiopian Residents Charity organization registered in FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) with Certificate No. 0421 and operating in Somali Region since 1999 GC. OWDA would like to announce the vacancy of the following position. Purpose 

The outreach nurses will perform nursing duties ensuring efficient health service delivery with comprehensive clinical care in accordance with accepted standard medical practice and professional codes of conduct. he/she will be Responsible for all tasks related to the  service delivery in routine vaccination for children less than 1 years,  Nutrition screening, registration of MAM and SAM, provision of treatment as per national guidelines, follow up and reporting. She/he will Provide on job training for the Health Extension Workers and Community platforms.Provide nursing services to patients and care of planning procedures integrated with COVID19 prevention and control measures.

Main Tasks ans Responsibility

  • Performs nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensuring infection control, monitoring and nutritional screening.
  • Support OTP  and SC cases following the national CMAM protocol
  • Administers medication, observes and documents therapeutic effects
  • Provides reproductive health/family planning education to individuals and their families.
  • Assists health officers for patient consultation when required.
  • Takes blood pressure, temperature and pulse of pregnant women throughout their pregnancy as part of regular follow-up;
  • Provides counselling to those pregnant women having physiological or social difficulties;
  • Ensures the maintenance of high-level standards and applies universal precautions to prevent infection
  • Prepares and submits periodic reports as required.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies; accounts for all assets under his/her custody during regular stock taking and audit as and when required.
  • Participate and support measles SIAs and other mop-up campaigns.

Job Requirements

Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge

  • Degree in nursing   for 2 years of experience  or diploma in nursing  for  5 year experience
  • Good communication skills with excellent knowledge of   computer reporting skills
  • Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  OWDA's  aims,  values  and principles
  • Fluent in written and spoken English,
  • Interested to work in remote area.
