Organization For Welfare and Development in Action (OWDA) is an Ethiopian Residents Charity organization registered in FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) with Certificate No. 0421 and operating in Somali Region since 1999 GC. OWDA would like to announce the vacancy of the following position. Purpose: 

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) officer is responsible for the overall implementation of MHPSS intervention. He/she is responsible to support people who are experiencing stress in targeted isolation or treatment centers, follow mental well-being of service providers, support families and care takers. Ensure care for victims of violence like GBV, sexual exploitation. He/she is responsible for planning and implementing and reporting of the MHPSS activities. She/he will be responsible for the Daily/weekly/monthly implementation MHPSS services in collaboration with the other staff members and will Provide on job training for the Health Extension Workers and Community platforms in order to be strengthened the MHPSS. 
Main Responsibilities 

  • Participate in the planning of MHPSS activities and other health service activities to ensure integration of MHPSS response.
  • Conduct mental health beneficiary’s  targeting in the  health facilities including isolation and treatment centers of COVID19
  • Provide  and support mental healthcare services  including COVID19  isolation centres
  • Provide first aid and support to people who are experiencing stress related to  psychological
  • Support for groups of displaced and returnee’s peoples in isolation and other targeted health facilities through MHPSS intervention.
  • Provide Counseling to  families  who has  emotional  stress due to COVID-19, GBV and sexual exploitation
  • Support for victims of violence like GBV, sexual or physical violence
  • Ensure Supportive communication for suspected or confirmed cases of COVID19 in everyday interactions in targeted health facilities
  • Develop/adapt key message to address MHPSS issues, reducing stigma related to the outbreak and child protection and how to communicate children in health education
  • Provide on job capacity building, formal training and coaching for local health workers
  • In collaboration with the project coordinator, ensure timely preparation and implementation of hander over strategy to local governments.
  • Adherence to maternal health treatment protocols and procedures for women and new born. 

Coordination & Representation

  • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, and other relevant actors, in consultation with the project Coordinator
  • Represent OWDA and attend the meeting accordingly and share meeting update with health mental health psychological social support with project.
  • Timely Communication with staffs, communities, advise them according to the situation

Reports to : CMAM officer

Number Required :  1

 

Duration of Contract:  six months(6)

Job Requirements

Technical Skills, Experience & Knowledge

  • Degree in public health, social work or psychology  for 2 years of experience
  • Good communication skills with excellent knowledge of   computer reporting skills
  • Commitment  to  and  understanding  of  OWDA's  aims,  values  and principles
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, knowledge of Somali language is a precondition.
  • Interested to work in remote area.
