MSH seeks to recruit highly-motivated and result-oriented individuals for the Eliminate Tuberculosis in Ethiopia (ETBE) Project, a five-year USAID-funded project with the goal of reducing TB incidence and mortality by improving the quality, access, utilization, and sustainability of TB services. The project builds on the work of previous USAID activities (Challenge TB, HEAL TB, TB Care, and others) that have been supporting the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program (NTLP) to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and STOP TB milestones. ETBE’s support focuses on improving access and utilization to quality and patient-centered JOB ID: R35comprehensive TB services.

This is a senior regional manager and technical lead for the Eliminate Tuberculosis in Ethiopia (ETBE) project for the region. S/he represents ETBE project at regional level and will be responsible for establishing relationships with public and private sector representatives in the assigned region.  S/he will work in close coordination with the Regional Health Bureau, Zonal Health Departments, Regional Laboratories, Woreda Health Offices, other partners working in TB, MDR TB and HIV in the region. Creates effective coordination of ETBE activities. The Regional Manager will also supervise the regional technical advisors and zonal cluster coordinators in the respective region.

Key result areas include;

  • Providing a leadership role to build the capacity of the ETBE regional team in project implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Leading in preparation of regional project annual and budget.
  • Leading baseline/following up assessments and startup of activities in the region and monitor progress in project implementation using agreed upon M&E plans.
  • Coordinating all trainings in TB, MDR TB and TB/HIV clinical management and laboratory strengthening.
  • Coordinating the trainings, external and internal quality assurance of the lab aspect of TB and MDR TB in all health facilities supported by ETBE.
  • Coordinating the implementation of TB and MDR TB community interventions at zonal and woreda level.  

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor of Science in health sciences field plus Masters of Science/Masters in Public Health or MD from recognized university with at least 7 years of work experience in TB or HIV programs in Ethiopia.
  •  S/he should have previous experience as regional manager or equivalent experience with USAID or other USG funded projects. In addition, the candidate should have excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, demonstrable leadership, with ability to work collaboratively with culturally diverse partners. Fluency in written and spoken English is required.  
  •  In addition, s/he should be proficient in relevant computer applications which includes word processing, databases, spreadsheets, internet, email systems and presentations (Microsoft Office applications preferred); and a willingness to learn new software packages.  In addition, s/he should have strong administrative and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work independently as well as an effective team member in a complex and fast-paced environment. The position involves frequent travel up to 50% time within Ethiopia
