  • Animate and manage the team of Barley Expert Officers (BEO)
  • Follow and train the BEO and assess their needs of external training
  • Centralize the information provided by the Barley Expert Officers and organize them (Determine more accurately the information to be gathered)
  • Update or create the technical documents for field team and partners
  • Realize a Newsletter for the field team and/or partners
  • Support the agri team for their agronomical challenges
  • Work closely with the R&D Officer and the Barley Expert Officers to determine the R&D needs for the coming season and assist the R&D Officer in monitoring the R&D activities done by the Field Advisors
  • Organize and follow-up the collection audits, with the support of the Barley Expert Officers, centralize the results and communicate with the Supply Chain Manager to assure the continuous improvement of the collection
  • Support the Supply Chain Manager in the extension to new areas
  • Train and support agronomically the field team in his area of responsibility (theoretically and practically)
  • Be the referent person for any agronomical question or need from Field Advisors and Zonal Agri Coordinators in his/her area of responsibility.
  • Participate regularly to farmers trainings and field days to assess the results and advice the Field Advisors and Barley Expert Officers on how to improve their day-to-day tasks with the farmers (trainings and field days audits)
  • Be a relay for improvement of our working methods with the Field Advisors by assessing workability of the current tools and the needs of new tools
  • Train the Field Advisors on quality procedures for collection
  • Realize collection points audits during the collection season to assure that the Field Advisors are following the quality procedures and advise them on how to improve their efficiency
  • Realize storage audits to ensure that the quality of the grain stored is matching with the purchased grain
  • Realize audits of aggregation points to ensure that the quality of the grain coming from the field is matching the quality delivered to Boortmalt store

Job Requirements

Degree in Crop production, plant science, agronomy, and related field

5 years  proven experience in areas like crop production, farm management, agronomist, research & development on agriculture, crop quality management, grain sourcing, agri- supply chain and related production

  • Strong communication, presentation and reporting skills
  • Project management skills
  • Strong analytical, critical and synthesis thinking
  • Ability to interpret large amount of data, to supply management and inventory control
  • Proficiency in ground logistics in complex environments
  • Willingness to work on the ground with all stakeholders of the barley supply
