People in Need is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded on the ideals of humanism, freedom, equality and solidarity. We consider human dignity and freedom to be fundamental values. The People in Need organization was established in 1992 by a group of Czech war correspondents who were no longer satisfied with merely relaying information about ongoing conflicts and began sending out aid. It gradually became established as a professional humanitarian organization striving to provide aid in troubled regions and support adherence to human rights around the world.
Throughout our over 25 years of its existence, People in Need has become one of the biggest non-profit organizations in Central Europe. In addition to humanitarian aid and human rights, it now also targets education and helps people living in social exclusion.
We are part of Alliance 2015, a strategic network of seven European non-governmental organizations engaged in humanitarian aid and development projects. This collaboration increases effectiveness, both in working in the target countries and in campaigns aimed at influencing the attitudes of politicians and the general public in Europe. In our over 16 years operation in Ethiopia, has focused on projects in five main areas of interest: Education and Social protection, Environment, Livelihood and Agriculture, Water, sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Emergency programs.

- Makes sure that project is implemented as per the project document, time plan and other relevant documents
- Makes sure that the implemented activities are coordinated with partners
- Follows all internal procedures for project implementation, procurement, etc.
- Reports to relevant SINCE Project manager
- Collects the data from implementation
- Monitoring the overall development of the situation in affected areas and suggest the way forward
- Ensure the implementation of the project is done in accordance with the terms and conditions specified by the donor;
- Providing support to the Project Manager and Communication Officer of the project in all aspect of implementing PIN and partners’ intervention in AA.
- Coordinate & facilitate fair selection of beneficiaries and ensure entire satisfaction of them on the support
- Ensure implementation and maintaining quality and consistency of technical standards /Norms/ of TVET trainings.
- Successful implementation of all stages of the project’s cycle, including M&E, budget and procurement management.
- Coordinate TVET short term trainings and apprenticeship program for potential migrants and returnees
- Organize sectoral and sub city level coordination meetings
- Organize capacity building trainings, experience sharing and workshops for stakeholders and beneficiaries
- Collect, Compile and document all the beneficiaries profiles and assessments etc.
- Proactively build strong working alliances with government partners in the relevant government Bureau; private companies and colleges.
- Engage in job matching process
- Supervise and coach interns
- other tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor
Job Requirements
- Minimum of BSc/BA Degree Rural Livelihood and Development,rural development, Community Development, Sociology, TVET leadership, Social Works,entrepreneurship,Economics, Business or other related fields of study.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project officer position
- Experience in TVET sector , value chain and livelihood is advantageous
- Strong experience with Grant project implementation, preferably in TVET education, entrepreneurship training and Youth employments are considered.
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.)
- Strong organizational and project management skills, and ability to deliver within tight deadlines
- Excellent knowledge of spoken & written Amharic and English.
- 3 strong references (will be crosschecked)
