Department of Reproductive, Family and Population Health (RFPH)

The Department of Reproductive, Family, and Population Health (RFPH) at the School of Public Health aspires to be center of excellence in reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health training, research and advancement of evidence-based knowledge to promote reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health status to the highest level possible in Ethiopia and Africa.

 In addition to the program the teaching program and courses taught to undergraduate and graduate students, the department is currently running multiple collaborative research projects with several of its faculty members working in close partnership with collaborators within Addis Ababa University, other national and foreign universities, and research institutions in Ethiopia and abroad. The department also closely works with Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureaus, and health development partners to provide demand driven technical assistance and support as part of its community services.

 The Department Office Manager will be responsible for

  • Closely working with the department chair, School and College of Health Sciences to manage the staff members, students, interns and all personnel matters – acts as a liaison between the department and administrative offices in the school, college and university
  • Managing routine operation of the departments key teaching, research and community service tasks
  • Administrative and financial management including coordinating the development of department teaching, research and community service plan; monitoring all grant accounts of the department and regularly reporting to the department chair
  • Preparing and submitting to the department chair regular performance reports on departmental teaching, research, and community service activities
  • Routinely sharing key updates about the department teaching, research and community service activities in the department monthly e-newsletter, social-media pages and website
  • In consultation with the department chair following implementation of key action points related to teaching, research and community service issued by department committee
  • Oversees coordination of meetings and trainings organized by the department as part of teaching, research and community service activities

Duration of job assignment:

Contract for one year with possibility of extension. Negotiable 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in management or related social science field with 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree and five years of relevant experience
  • Strong managerial and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic language.
  • Strong in logistic, finance and administrative management expertise

Additional preferred skills:

  • Proficiency in additional local languages
  • Familiarity and experience working in higher education
