For our international customer we are looking to hire several experienced Database and Data Warehouse Administrators in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. You should maintain and screen DataWarehouse (DWH) capacity planning, administration, expansion and install, configure DataWarehouse environment, components and manage troubleshoot scheduled platform related tasks 24/7. 

Job responsibilities: 

Providing 24x7 operation support;

• Responsible for implementation and ongoing administration of DataWarehouse infrastructure, file system management, log files, and monitoring;
• Collaborate with application teams to install operating system and technology updates, patches, version upgrades as required;
• Diligently partner with the infrastructure, network, database, application teams to provide high data quality and availability;
• Develop and maintain documents pertaining to installation and configuration for installations/deployments and support;
• Accountable for assessment of current technical infrastructure and provide performance monitoring of routines and tuning of tools;
• Document best practices, guidelines, and make recommendations for future environments;
• Align with the systems engineering team to propose and deploy new hardware and software environments required for Hadoop and to expand existing environments;
• Working with data delivery teams to set up new users. This job includes setting up Linux users, and testing HDFS, Hive, and Pig access for the new users;
• Monitor DWH cluster connectivity and security, support and maintenance; and Responsible for installs, administration, and support of Windows and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment.

  Qualifications & Technical Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and/or relevant work experience required; 
• 6-8 years of experience in a Linux Systems Administrator or Database Administrator role;
•  -5 years of demonstrated experience of administering a large Cloud-based environment or a large Big Data environment of on premise DWH and related environments
• Proven deep understanding of Big Data technology, knowledge of Linux as Hadoop runs on Linux, and general operational expertise such as good troubleshooting skills, understanding of system's capacity, and networks, etc.;
• Ability to deploy Hadoop cluster, add and remove nodes, keep track of jobs, monitor critical parts of the cluster, configure name-node high availability, schedule and configure it and take backups;
• Knowledge of troubleshooting Java applications is a plus;
• Demonstrated experience as a technical leader with strong acumen in architecture, design, development, testing, and administration of Hadoop based solutions;
• Ability to work independently and work with internal and external teams to deliver results;
• Ability to or willing to learn other database technologies;
• Highly motivated, energetic with hands on experience working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with frequently changing priorities; and
• Strong communication and influencing skills (oral, written, listening, interactions with senior management).
