INVITATION FOR A SHORT-TERM SPOT ANNOUNCEMENTS AND RADIO PRODUCTION SERVICE

ON DISABILITY INCLUSIVE COVID-19 RESPONSE

THROUGH FM RADIO PROGRAMS  

in Addis Ababa and SNNPR

Background

Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) is an Ethiopian Development Organization established in 2005 and reregistered at Agency for Civil Society Organizations as Ethiopian Development Organization with Certificate no. 0321 under the Proc. No. 1113/2019. ECDD is working with other organizations to promote and facilitate the inclusion of persons with disabilities and disability issues in mainstream service delivery and development programs envisioning an Inclusive Ethiopia where persons with disabilities exercise the same rights and have access to the same services and opportunities enjoyed by other citizens.

ECDD is presently implementing a project funded by Light for the World to promote inclusive COVID-19 response for persons with disabilities. Under this project, ECDD has planned to aware stakeholders and the community on inclusion of persons with disabilities in the COVID-19 prevention and responses through radio transmissions. To this end, ECDD wants to invite companies that are interested to produce a series of interactive radio programs and spot announcements to aware persons with disabilities about the pandemic, depict the vulnerability of persons with disabilities to COVID-19, and discuss on the challenges and the needs of persons with disability in dealing with the pandemic and assess way forwards to make the current national COVID-19 prevention and responses disability inclusive.    

Objectives

The radio program and spot announcements are expected to:

·          Aware persons with disabilities on how to protect themselves from COVID-19.

·         Aware the community on the vulnerability of persons with disabilities to COVID-19, on the existing challenges to include persons with disabilities in the current prevention and responses and on strategies to include and support persons with disabilities during COVID-19 pandemic

·         Urge and encourage stakeholders to include persons with disabilities in their COVID- prevention and response plans and implementation.

 Targeted Audience’s

-      Persons with physical, hearing, visual and intellectual impairments

-      Decision makers and public service providers

-      The community  

-      Stakeholders who are involved in prevention and response of COVID-19.

Expected Outputs

-      A weekly one-hour radio program that lasts for three months discussing on various relevant topics, partly mentioned in this call, with vital participation of persons with various types of disabilities  

-       Two spot announcement productions and transmissions, each being 45 seconds long 

Eligibility: Required Capacity and Skills

Companies as well as individuals having the following competencies/skills and capacities are eligible to apply for this short-term service:

•  Profound knowledge on disability and disability inclusion.
• Strong experience in making radio productions and spot announcements, preferably on disability and disability inclusion on FM radios in both regions (Addis Ababa and SNNPR).
• Have a valid license and vat certificate

Are committed to meet the deadlines, are equipped with enough resources and qualified professionals to make necessary logistical arrangements and accomplish the work.

Terms of Payment:

·         50% upon signing of the contract

·         50% upon satisfactory completion, delivery and acceptance by ECDD of the radio production and spots aired.
