Internal/External Vacancy Announcement
The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI would like to hire energetic, qualified and well experienced Project Coordinator in collaboration with Skin Health Africa Research Project (SHARP). SHARP is a consortium project, between LSHTM, AHRI, and AAU. Severe Stigmatizing Skin Diseases (SSSDs) disproportionately affect impoverished and marginalized communities in low and middle-income countries causing significant physical disability and psychological morbidity. Thus, we aim to improve outcomes for people with SSSDs by strengthening the care cascade through scalable strategies for earlier detection, improve management to reduce disability and counteracting stigma through a series of linked studies addressing the following objectives: (1) to evaluate integrated community-based strategies for early diagnosis, adherence support and stigma reduction; (2) to develop clinical and patient reported outcome measures for CL; and (3) to promote collaboration and build research capacity.
Responsibilities:
· Draft annual plan of action in line with the project millstones and get endorsed by the consortium steering committee
· Develop monitoring checklists and track progress
o ensure timely delivery on project activities and reporting per millstones
o ensure financial utilization and reporting per agreement
· Facilitate smooth and timely implementation of research activities
o Organize, plan and follow all project administrative activities
o Liaise between project team at different levels and stakeholders on administrative and logistic issues
o Plan and implement regular project team meeting
o keep minutes
o write reports, ensure physical reports are duly signed and shared in time
o remind team members for actions if there are delays/challenges
· Compile evidences on SSSD for knowledge management for broader sharing
· Organize comprehensive data base on skin diseases in Ethiopia
· In collaboration with project team draft policy briefs on skin diseases on a regular basis based ON CONSENSUS BETWEEN CONSORTIUM MEMBERS AND CONCRETE EVIDENCES
· Carry other tasks assigned by the project steering committee
Job Requirements
· MSc in Public Health, with background in health Science AND 8 years related work experience; OR
· BSc in Public Health AND 10 years related work experience AND background (BSc) in health Science from accredited institution
· Proven track record of coordinating consortium projects or similar initiatives
· Have research experience with publication as an outcome
· Good English language command
· Willing to travel as the need may arise
· Could demonstrate skill as team player
· Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and diverse team
· Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills
