Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia is an International Non-governmental organization and a member of SOS Children’s Villages International Federation. We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people.

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Working in close collaboration with international donors, local government and community based organizations across seven program locations; we aspire that every child grows up with love, respect and security.

We are looking for an Assistant Family and Community Development Project Manager who will be assisting the Family and Community Development Program Manager in the coordination and facilitation of the projects and implementation of a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation system for the effective execution.

Your role....

As an Assistant Family and Community Development Project Manager, you will be in charge of the following:

  • Assist in conducting Needs assessments for new projects in
  • Ensuring that a proper gate keeping for projects target groups is being implemented
  • Assisting projects in the development of family development plan for target caregivers based on the findings of the initial assessments.
  • Providing regular technical support for projects so that approaches and results as well as can be documented timely and promoted on a regular basis.
  • Regularly updating, analyzing and reporting M&E results based on the donor requirements i
  • Regularly documenting and sharing good practices and lessons learned with project staffs 
  • Supporting in the preparation of projects annual budget plan and reviewing regularly plan for the efficient and effective implementation of planned actions and budget
  • Managing and supporting on quality data collection, storage and collation processes and analysis at the program location.
  • Preparing quarterly summary of brochures displaying key results against the plans and baseline survey findings and share for donors and key government stakeholders
  • Supporting projects while preparing annual M&E plans and ensuring M&E procedures/instruments are understood and properly used by project staffs
  • Identifying capacity gaps of staffs in the areas of basic services delivery and facilitating gap based supports
  • Ensuring that accurate quality narrative and financial reports are submitted in a timely manner as per donor requirements.

The must haves:

  •  B.A./B.Ed. Degree in Management, Sociology, Economics, Psychology, Development Studies, Community Development or related fields
  • Minimum of 4 years direct experience in managing and executing community based projects through Project Cycle Management processes .In addition, minimum of 2 years of direct experience in community based projects Monitoring and evaluation is required.
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports
  • Ability to work independently and in teams;
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complexities to a variety of audiences with contextualization
  • Excellent in written and spoken English proficiency
  • Computer skills with proven practical operation
  • Supervisory, team worker and analytical skills
  • Honest, proactive and well mannered
  • Responds flexibly & positively to change through active involvement.
  • Demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities.

The Pluses:

  • Prior INGO experience is advantageous
