Our flagship Brands, Dashen and Balegeru are renowned for their great taste and quality. In addition to our Brewery in Gondar, we have a new leading edge Brewery at Debre Birhan, the first of its kind in Africa. Given the continued growth and future expansion of Dashen Breweries, the following opportunity exist. 

Job Summary 

To develop and implement the sales and distribution strategy for the country in order to achieve company's sales, market share and distribution objectives and to ensure profitable and sustainable market growth while ensuring brand equity is built.

To provide sales and distribution leadership to the Dashen business in Ethiopia through the development, implementation and execution of insight-based consumer and customer Sales strategies and activity programs which enables the Company to lead, and develop the capabilities of the sales function.

Duties and Responsibilities


Sales strategy: define the portfolio sales strategy for the Dashen Breweries business in Ethiopia, including identification of insight-based opportunities; communicate the strategy across the business and work with other members of the Dashen leadership team to ensure effective implementation of the agreed sales strategy. Lead the Dashen sales and distribution team, and any third-party agencies, suppliers and consultants, in developing sales activity strategies to build long-term brand equity and deliver business objectives. Simply review and implement RTC strategy for Dashen.


Implementation of sales programs: lead the production of annual sales plans through which to build long-term sales plan and deliver business and sales objectives. Lead the sales team in identifying targets and metrics across all areas of the sales functions with which to monitor and report on the effectiveness of sales strategies and activity programs. Ensure that agreed sales activity programs are effectively implemented, on budget and on time, with evaluations of major initiatives.


Innovation commercialization: Monitor consumer trends and industry developments to help identify opportunities for the Dashen’s portfolio. Work with the Marketing Director and Research & Innovation Manager, to develop consumer-led propositions for new brands with compelling customer propositions.  


Sales health and competitor monitoring: Lead the sales health and competitor monitoring processes. Work with the Sales team to develop competitor response strategies and plans as required to protect the market position of Dashen brands.


Capability building: Lead the sales and operation team in best practice processes and develop their capabilities through performance management, coaching and identification of training needs. Embed structured call, systematic development of sales Team at all levels and step up sales automation.


Budget Management: Determine the sales and operation expenditure required to meet sales targets and manage the allocation of the annual sales budget across sales and activity programs. Ensure that the sales team monitor and report on sales expenditure. Work with the Finance team to ensure accurate accruals and expenditure forecasts are prepared. Take corrective action when required to ensure sales contribution is in line with business goals. Effectively evaluate activity.

Management of third-party Sales agents, Retailers and Distributes: Develop performance management processes for third-party Sales agents, Retailers and Distributors used by the sales function and supervise the use of the processes by the sales team. Ensure that regular performance reviews are carried out and address performance issues as they arise.

Managing Warehouses and Depots

Trade terms development and implementation

External network: Represent DBSC as appropriate at meetings and events for industry associations such as Ethiopian Brewers Association, advertisers’ associations and local community groups.

Job Requirements

A.  Knowledge and Experience Required

  • MBA or BA Degree in Sales or Marketing or Business Management
  • At least ten years of sales and marketing experience in the alcoholic beverage industry or FMCG and experience with distributor practices
  • 3-5 years of senior leadership experience, preferably in the beer industry
  • Experience in managing people
  • High level of commercial and business understanding
  • Sound knowledge of the local and international beer industry
