 Internal /External Vacancy Announcement

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) wants to recruit employees in the following vacant positions the details of which are mentioned below.

Brief highlight of the Society

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) is established on the eve of Ethio-Italian war, on July, 8, 1935 and signed the Geneva Convention on July 25 of the same year and became 48th member of League of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies on 25, September 1935. Since then the Society have engaged on providing Humanitarian services & community based development initiatives.

Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 11 Regional Offices, 33 Zonal Branches and 131 District/Woreda Branches,599 Woreda Red Cross Committee and 5871 Kebele  Red Cross Committees. 

Main Task(s)

  • Plans, coordinates and supervises activities of customer service management, human resource management, general service, general accounts and property administration activities of the region in accordance with the policy of the Society;
  • Identifies and assesses the need for additional human resource and looks for ways of filling vacant positions
  • Ensures that fixed assets of the Center are properly registered, classified and codified or tagged for ease of tracing and identification;
  • Checks and verifies as to payment orders and purchasing transactions are duly approved by authorized personnel
  • Ensures that cash and check payments are prepared and effected in due course and Counter signs payments verifying correctness and completeness of supporting documents;
  • Checks receiving vouchers and payment vouchers are posted to general ledgers and respective subsidiary ledgers and Ensures that legal and authorized deductions are made from employee’s salary income during payroll preparation
  • Ensures that the financial transactions of the region are recorded and data entries thereof processed, accounts timely closed and audited, interim and end-of-period financial reports produced in accordance with the overall financial system in place;

Terms of employment: Permanent after probationary period

Job Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  • Minimum first degree in Accounting/ Accounting & Finance/ Management and 6 years, out of which 2 years in a supervisory or senior professional position(s).

Skill Required:-

  • Accounting software application
  • Ability to work proactively using own initiative, prioritize work and meet deadline
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Very good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and negotiate with a wide range of people at all levels internally and externally.
