We are looking for a dynamic Project Advisor who excels in building relationships and partnerships and knows how to effectively coordinate with a variety of stakeholders. We are looking for someone who loves challenges and is excited to expand women’s contraceptive options and access through the introduction of DMPA-SC for self-inject in Ethiopia.

The Project Advisor will support the framework of the Smart Start Scale-up and system strengthening Program called RISE (Roadmap to Integrate Smart Start in Ethiopia) program to expand the FP choice of Ethiopia women and girls. Under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor for AYSRH, the Project Advisor will be responsible to co-manage with the MoH the introduction of DMPA-SC for self-inject through a pilot project conducted in the Ethiopian public health system. Also, we are looking for someone who has excellent relationships with the different departments within the MoH and who can form partnerships, engage, and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders to advance the introduction of DMPA-SC in Ethiopia.

Essential Functions

You will work under the supervision of the Senior Technical Advisor for AYSRH on the following:

DMPA-SC Pilot Project:

  • Oversee all aspects involved with the planning and execution of the pilot project, making sure the study is on track.
  • Identify and communicate any risks and operational barriers impacting the successful completion of the pilot project.
  • Liaise with PSI’s local and regional evidence teams, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute, the Ministry of Health and external partners, making sure all partners and key stakeholders are involved and informed of progress and of any operational barriers. 

Lead stakeholder engagement and coordination:

  • Form partnerships manage relationships and facilitate collaboration with a broad array of external partners and the different departments within the MoH to introduce DMPA-SC for self-inject.
  • Convene regular coordination meetings and create a consortium comprised of key stakeholders (i.e. INGOs, MoH, donors) who are interested in DMPA-SC for self-inject. The consortium will serve as a platform to inform and ensure progress on introducing DMPA-SC for self-inject through the pilot project; and will also serve to inform, educate and share lessons learned and tools from experiences among other organizations and other countries with experience introducing DMPA-SC and taking it to scale.
  • Represent PSI/Ethiopia at the FP TWG to provide regular update on the status of the project and incorporate the technical inputs from partners as this project will be implemented in close collaboration with the health sector.

Documentation of lessons learned:

  • With the Sr. Technical Advisor for AYSRH and other stakeholders, document lessons learned from the pilot study and the process of introducing DMPA-SC; disseminate project learnings externally.

Your background

What are we looking for? The basics

  • Master’s degree in Clinical Nursing, Public Health or related field with five (5) years of demonstrated experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nursing, Public Health or related field with seven (7) years of demonstrated experience
  • Experience in family planning and particularly with working in partnership with the MoH, MNCH Directorate.
