Job Summary

Biomedical engineers combine engineering principles with medical and biological sciences to design, create and maintain equipment, devices, computer systems, and software used in healthcare:

Biomedical engineers Responsibility:

• Design and create new equipment and devices for practical medical use
• Install, adjust, maintain, repair, or provide technical support for biomedical equipment
• Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment, perform preventive maintenance
• Train clinicians and other personnel on the proper use of biomedical equipment
• Performs research, prepare procedures, write technical reports, publish research papers, and make recommendations based on the research findings
• Present reports and research findings in order to help spread and share knowledge and further life-saving developments
• Designs instruments, devices, and software used in health care; develop new procedures using knowledge from many technical sources; or conduct research needed to solve clinical problems. Frequently work in research and development or quality assurance.
• Design electrical circuits, software to run medical equipment, or computer simulations to test new therapies.
• Design rehabilitative exercise equipment.
• Liaising with medical, engineering and scientific staff
• Advice administrators on the planning, acquisition & use of medical equipment based on scientific knowledge up to date information

Job Requirements

Biomedical Requirements:

• Degree in a relevant subject such as biomedical Engineering
• Relevant 3-5 yrs experience in the biomedical field (Experience in installation or maintenance of Diagnostic machines (CT, X-Ray, U/Sound machines, Laboratory equipment), Other medical equipment (anesthesia machine, Mechanical ventilators, Laundry machines)
• Technological and computer proficiency
