Role Responsibilities:
- Conduct health assessment for the children in the Lighthouse
- Referred to the appropriate referral point, clinic, hospital, laboratory, dentist or other health specialist for higher level health care
- Provide appropriate and correct doses of medicines/treatments according to their age/weight and medical condition and prescription
- Provide medical education and information, on how to care for their bodies, and to keep themselves healthy and safe
- Providing HIV/AIDS education, know how to keep themselves safe from HIV and other STI’s through life skills training
- Provide age-appropriate voluntary counselling and testing of HIV/AIDS as well as the necessary follow-up and treatment if found to be positive
- Supervise hygiene and sanitation activities of the Lighthouse
- Oversee the meal schedule of the lighthouse.
- Liaison with, and follow-up, of any hospitalized children, ensuring they receive all necessary care and support whilst they are in hospital and follow-up after their discharge
- Ensure that Lighthouse is a hygienic environment for the children to engage in activities
- Keep professional, accurate and confidential records of all consultations and laboratory results.
- Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness and the appropriate sterilization of all medical equipment in the clinic
- Keep accurate stock keeping records of all materials and re-order and purchase new stock as required to keep sufficient materials in stock within the medical budget
- Participate in collaboration with other staff team members in general project activities such as the education program, life-skills program, street visiting program and other program activities
Job Requirements
Qualifications: BSc in nurse
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience working in a senior position
Experience working with vulnerable children and families
Essential Skills:
- Computer literacy in all Microsoft Office functions
- Ability to write accurate, concise and informative reports
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills,
- Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written are required
- Establishes and maintains excellent track record of communications with partners and colleagues.
