Job Purpose

Under general supervision of garage team head, inspects diagnoses and repairs gasoline and diesel powered automotive, truck, and a variety of other power-driven equipment; and perform other related duties, as assigned.

 Scope: Responsible for all company vehicles across all business units repair and maintenance related issues.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Inspects and diagnoses mechanical and electrical malfunctions in automobiles and light trucks.
• Repairs and replaces defective or worn parts and accessories.
• Performs preventive maintenance work, lubrication and inspection on automobiles and light trucks.
• Performs major and minor engine tune-ups. Also overhauls engines, transmissions, differentials, front ends, steering gears and braking systems.
• Operates diagnostic equipment and evaluates readings.
• Diagnose auto/truck air conditioners and repairs.
• Repairs brakes and related components and repairs tires and tubes.
• Responds to service calls on trip
• Performs a variety of technical and skilled mechanic functions for vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair, including, but not limited to, fleet vehicles, such as automobiles and light trucks; light and heavy equipment, tools and equipment.
• Operates a variety of tools, welding equipment, and mechanical equipment.
• Conducts road testing to ensure that vehicles and equipment operate within prescribed parameters.
• Reads and interprets manuals, drawings, and specifications.
• Provides lead direction and training to lower-level staff; reviews completed work to ensure quality and completeness; and provides input to supervisor on staff performance.
• Evaluates assigned work projects, including materials and staff resources needed to perform the work; estimates time, materials, and equipment necessary for the successful completion of work projects; acquires necessary resources as appropriate.
• Inspects vehicles and equipment for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
• Maintains records and logs of daily activities.
• Assists with District special events as needed.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

 Experience & Education

• 5 years of experience with diploma in auto mechanic from college or TVET
• 3 years of experience with Degree in auto mechanics from college or university
• Seven years of experience with level four auto mechanics from TVET
• It is a must at least to hold qualified & Authorized driving license for automobile
• It is mandatory to have an experience of engine service  

Previous roles of working with similar heavy duty truckers of like IVECO is plus and advantageous
