Amref Health Africa, headquartered in Kenya, is the largest Africa based international non-governmental organization (NGO) currently running programs in over 35 countries in Africa with lessons learnt over 60 years of engagement with governments, communities and partners to increase sustainable health access in Africa. Amref Health Africa also incorporates programme development, fundraising, partnership, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, and has offices in Europe and North America as well as subsidiaries; Amref Flying Doctors, Amref Enterprises and the Amref International University. Amref Health Africa has been active in Ethiopia since the 1960s and became fully operational as an international NGO in 2002.

We are currently seeking a consultant firm to assessing the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) on COVID-19 in Gambella district, Gambella Region.

General objective:

Is to assess knowledge, attitude, and practice of communities towards COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control among the communities of Gambella woredain Gambella Region

Specific Objective

ü To assess the on the ground living situations of communities and set appropriate groups of Knowledge, attitude and Practices that are recommended and are in line with the FMoH, Africa CDC and WHO recommendations for Gambella district context

  • To assess the existing KAPs of communities towards COVID-19 prevention and control and assess against those sets of standard KAPs for COVID-19  .
  • To assess the perception, facilitators and barriers among communities towards implementing positive KAP for the prevention and control of COVID-19.
  • To assess the actual level of KAP for the prevention and control of COVID-19 among the communities.
  • To forecast potential impacts COVID-19 in the communities , To propose and inform to the local authorities on contextualized and alternative mechanisms, approaches and methodologies for a positive KAP for COVID-19 prevention and control  

Job Requirements

The potential consultancy firm is required to meet the following minimum requirements in order to qualify for the submission of proposal.

  • At least Master’s Degree in public health, epidemiology, demography or related field and demonstrated experience in household data collection and qualitative data collections,
  • A renewed professional license for consultancy in similar tasks,
  • At least five years of experience in undertaking similar surveys of health projects.
  • Good knowledge with demonstrated practical working experience or research,
  • Experience of effective interaction with local non-government organizations, government departments, and international organizations,
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English,
  • Evidence of similar work in the recent past will be a key requirement.
  • Local Language skills of data collectors,
  • Minimum75% of the evaluation team composition is expected to be part of data collection.
  • The consulting firm must demonstrate their tax compliance status at the time of bidding.
