The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Ethiopia is looking to hire an experienced, highly motivated and qualified person to fill the position of Data Administrator (Protection), based in Addis Ababa.
PURPOSE
The Data Administrator administers data collected by the ICRC to support its activities on behalf of people entitled to ICRC protection & assistance under international humanitarian law.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Focal point for tracing requests and unaccompanied minor’s cases collected in Ethiopia
- Analyzes the cases according to ICRC procedures and criteria, and make crosschecks and updates in ICRC's web-based case management system
- Ensures the follow up of all individual cases by the team/person responsible (cases requiring attention and reminders)
- Provides statistical overviews and other analysis as requested
- Ensures good quality data-management system by carrying out data controls
- Maintains a proper filing system for ndividual files
- Provides basic support and guidance to the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) for a proper case management, follow-ups and usage of relevant tools
Focal point for Snapshot related questions
- Is in charge of preparatory works
- Briefs ICRC/ERCS staff about proper collection of information and picture as per the ETA snapshot guideline.
- Prepares verification lists, including a file for auto importation, into ICRC's web-based case management system
- Follows-up and updates positive matches in ICRC's web-based case management system
- Is Focal point for providing statistical overviews and other analysis as requested
Detention visit
- Handles nonconfidential visit reports as well as working lists and registration cards
- Advices delegates on procedures and guidelines, communicates with the detention delegates when necessary, and gives feedback on reporting.
- Ensures that all active beneficiaries receive the necessary follow up by the detention team
- Maintains a proper filing system in Reference Documents and individual files
Support to the Data team, protection department and the delegation
- Replaces or assists the data team members whenever necessary
- Participates in Pre-archiving processes
- Participates in the review of data entry procedures to manage and update data
- Receives visitors, assesses situations and treats cases according to the needs
- Attends and actively participates in the Department's meetings
Job Requirements
- University Degree in Social Science, Sociology, Information management or closely related field
- Excellent command of English and Amharic (written and spoken). knowledge of other local language skills an asset.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (knowledge of SQL or Virtual Basic programming languages an asset.)
- Capacity to learn and adapt to new work methods
- Able to work under pressure, flexible and open to extra working hours if necessary.
- Committed to work and able to work under supervision or independently as required.
- Able to work within a team & to supervise the work of others
- Good inter-personal skills: ability to deal with people respectfully and showing empathy towards others
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 4-5 years works experience in a similar field
- Previous experience with databases and data management (specialized software)
- Information-management background
