Overall Purpose of the Role:
Child Protection community facilitator will coordinate and manage over all Ethiopian Migration Program /Project activities implementation, monitoring and reporting from assigned intervention areas in Gubalafto, Habru, and Raya Kobo districts of North Wollo zone. The child protection community facilitator will lead and coordinate community level volunteers, partners, stakeholders and service providers to ensure proper and timely beneficiary identification, operational planning, implementation, monitoring, assessments and will provide progress updates on monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Child protection community facilitator will also involve in community structure capacity building activities. Child protection community facilitator will work on case stories, success stories, documentation and assess progress on regularly. He/she will provide project progress reports as per the organization, government and donor requirement. He /she will have supervisory role to community volunteers to implement all EMP intervention activities at the community level.
Child protection community facilitator will closely work with community level women and Children affairs, Labor and social Affairs, other relevant government offices and stakeholders to jointly implement, monitor and support coordination.
Child protection community facilitator will represent SCI at external forums/meetings at field/community level as required in consultation with the line manager to position the achievements of the project that he/she is responsible for.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Training and Empowerment
- Mobilize community to protect unsafe & irregular migration through and from Ethiopia.
- Provide protection services in collaboration with government officials and community organizations: CBOs, FBOs, clubs and associations.
- Ensure gender equality and equity
- Organize/facilitate the registration, verification, mobilization of project beneficiaries, and engage on youth resilience programs.
- Facilitates community meetings and community action plan preparation and ensure that the participation of each beneficiary and community groups in the plan for their respective Kebele’s .
- Facilitates and ensure that the participation of each beneficiary and community groups in implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- In collaboration with his/her supervisor, support in training need identification and provides effective trainings to target group members as per the project document.
- Work with community leaders, elders and government staff and acts as a catalyst
- in initiating action and generating enthusiasm for change in communities by performing demonstrations and organizing and leading training sessions;
- Prepares final action plan of their respective Kebele’s by breaking down in to quarters and months and submit it to her/his supervisor
Facilitate implementation of project activities and monitoring
- Facilitate all child protection project activities (capacity building, community mobilization, youth resilience program and protection services) in the intervention area in accordance with the contract objectives, work plan and allocated budget
- Facilitates youth target groups selection and targeting along with partners and responsible body from the Keeble’s; based on selection criteria
- Provides technical assistance to beneficiaries’ youth, families, youth groups and community members;
- Supports regular capacity assessment activities conducted for youth and families
- Closely works with government counterparts and links the activities of the community with the relevant bureaus/bodies;
- Develop partnership at grass root level stakeholders for the sustainability of activities
- Ensure up to date recording of beneficiary data and timely reporting at Keeble level
Technical Support and Facilitation
- Provides technical assistance on child protection and community dialogues.
- Integrates child protection interventions with youth livelihood activities.
- Ensures beneficiaries have access to all required and necessary services
- Planning, Reporting and Learning
- Collects basic information from the community, document the information and practices, local practices that are best performing to the local conditions.
- Prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly plans on her/his activities and submit to her/his supervisor;
- ·Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and submit it to her/his supervisor
- Support and facilitates community experience sharing sessions and lessons.
Job Requirements
- A minimum of College Diploma and above in a related field of Health’s and Social Science or equivalent
- Recommended a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a corporate or NGO environment, with experience in community based child protection project implementation experience
- Experience, Knowledge and understanding of community based child protection mechanisms, national protection systems, migration dynamics, returnee’s management and technical knowledge on child protection monitoring and evaluation, migration and Returnees
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets
- Experience of successfully implementing changes to improve and monitor quality standards and impact
- Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
- Fluency in English, and local language both verbal and written, required

Desirable
- NGOs Experience working in a complex multi-culture working context in any one of the protection areas
- Experience providing trainings and building capacity of staff.
