Soufflet has started its operation in Ethiopia in 2017 is commissioning its malt factory in Addis Ababa while actively working on local malt barley sourcing.

To manage the laboratory, quality and safety in our factory Soufflet is looking to hire its QSE Manager

Core Mission :

The QSE Manager is responsible for all laboratory operations. He/she is managing the laboratory, ensure correctness of the analysis performed mostly on barley and on malt. He/she is working closely with the Production department to report all quality parameters for each batch produced and expedition performed. He/she is responsible as well to monitor and keep track of the quality parameters of the raw materials (barley) received at the factory.

The QSE manager is as well in charge of the strict respect of the safety standards and develop the safety culture in the factory. 

  Major Responsibilities :

  •  Responsible for the analysis of barley / malt / and metrology processes;
  • Manage the organization of the laboratory in order to guarantee the reliability of the results;
  • Issue & update all documents for the laboratory (laboratory control plans, work instructions, work methods etc.)
  • Organize and coordinate external laboratory tests for malt, barley, water, wastewater and interpret and report the results;
  • Responsible for implementing, maintaining, improving the QSE system.
  • Prepare together with the Factory Manager the local Policy, training plan, action plans; and follows quality and safety indicators
  • Prepare and organize quarterly Safety Committee meetings & QSE meetings (minutes, reports) and Management Reviews
  • In charge of local and head office reporting on QSE matters through the main KPI in place
  • Follow the right treatment of events (such as non-conformity or accident) and action plans define
  • In charge for all audits and visits (customers, authorities, etc.).
  • Issue and updates documents specific to the management system (work instructions; HACCP, Safety & Environment risks assessment; legislation update; welcome guide etc.)
  • Performs induction training for the new /temporary staff & interns concerning QSE matters; trains staffs.
  • Responsible for all safety topics in the factory and focal person to improve the safety in the factory;
  • Prepare Risk Assessments and develop safety plans for the laboratory and the factory;
  • Ensure the respect and proper implementation of the safety instructions in the laboratory and the factory
  • Reports any incident that may affect the quality of the product, the safety of workers, the environment or energy consumption, both because of internal stakeholders (employees, trainees, etc.) and external (contractor, temporary staff, etc.).

Job Requirements

Qualification : 

  • MSC or BSC Degree in Chemical Engineering , Chemistry or related fields

Experience : 

  • Above 7 Years of experience in FMCG industry. Out of which 3 years as a manager or supervisor
  • First experience in the food and beverage industry required;
  •  Experience in quality analysis and laboratory analysis;
  •  Good knowledge of safety standards in a factory;
  •  Knowledge of HACCP, 5S and other recent quality and safety systems are a plus.
