The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. IRC has been working in Ethiopia since 1999 and is implementing integrated, community-managed programs aimed at improving the quality of lives and recover of livelihood of disaster-affected population’s through promoting individual participation, strengthening institutions and emergency response. 

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Health Officer is responsible for planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of the IRC’s SRH services and activities related to health system support in the assigned woredas: Bora, Dugda and Liben Chukala woredas of East Shaw Zone. She/he is also responsible for ensuring adherence to the implementation of program activities according to nationally accepted standards. The Health Officer will report to the Senior Health Officer.

Job Requirements

  • MSc/BSc Degree/Diploma in Public Health and Nursing.
  • Minimum work experience of 1 year for MSc Degree holders, 2 years for BSc Degree holders & 5 years for Diploma holders.
  • NGO experience is a plus.
  • Motorbike driving License is must requirement.  
  • Experience working in preventive SRH and RMNCH preferable.
  • Good project management skills, ability to plan, organize and monitoring of implementation of SRH and RMNCH projects.
  • Demonstrated qualifications, experience, or training in community mobilization and community health promotion.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating training

Required Job competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills-verbal and written ones. Communication in English is a key requirement. Knowledge of Afan Oromo is must.
  • Ability of basic computer skills mainly, MS word, Excel, internet etc.
  • Self-motivated, honest, highly responsible, and punctual.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as to work autonomously when required.
  • Ability to constructively address gaps and weaknesses.
