Job Description

Purpose of the job:

To enable the smooth running of company operation by leading supply chain development, providing strategic direction, governance in procurement and management of the supply chain infrastructure and operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review or update supply chain practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, or laws.
  • Oversee the material cost forecasts or standard cost lists.
  • Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store materials.
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Implement new or improved supply chain management processes.
  • Lead the development or implementation of procedures to evaluate or select suppliers.
  • Ensure proper documentation of physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
  • Confer with business units to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure availability of materials or products.
  • Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors.
  • Lead the analysis of inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving.
  • Design or implement supply chain system that support business strategies, adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
  • Design, implement, or oversee product take back or reverse logistics programs.
  • Evaluate and select information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials or products distribution, storage, or inventory.

Generic Duties of the Position:

  • Develop and implement the Department’s strategic and operational plans and objectives.
  • Develop, approve and monitor the Department’s budgets.
  • Identify human resources requirements of the Department and develop plan for meeting the requirements.
  • Lead the development, implementation and review of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Review, approve and submit Departmental reports to relevant organs.
  • Support the development of subordinates through periodic performance evaluations, coaching, mentoring, ongoing performance dialogue and feedback.
  • Manage disciplinary concerns of the Department’s staff.
  • Represent the Company in external relationships related with the Department.
  • Participate in group decision making processes by forming part of different groups/committees.

Job Requirement

  • Master’s degree in management/accounting/supply chain management or related fields with six (6) years of demonstrated experience out of which three (3) years in a managerial position  Or
  • Bachelor’s degree in management/accounting/supply chain management or related fields with eight (8) years of demonstrated experience, of which four (4) years in a managerial position.
