We are looking for a short-term consultant to map providers of community food support in Addis Ababa. The consultant will be responsible for mapping local food support services available in Addis Ababa, establish partnerships/connections, develop tools to identify food insecure clients, and establish a referral directory/system to link clients from service centers to food-support programs/services. S/he will assess, identify, plan, connect and coordinate strategies that deliver food relief and support services to underserved groups.

Key Result Areas:

  • Assess current local food support efforts, establishments and infrastructure providing community food support to underserved groups, particularly vulnerable populations adversely affected during COVID-19
  • Identify key stakeholders in the local food value-chain sector
  • Provide a complete representation of the local food support system instead of merely mentioning organizations/names
  • Develop well-enabled, comprehensive food support system directories across all sub-cities in Addis Ababa
  • Develop and test tools to identify food security status of clients
  • Develop a trackable linkage mechanism for clients at service centers
  • Orient the team and service providers on structures and systems of established food-support network services
  • Submit a report at the end of the contract detailing names of organizations, letters of establishment, mechanisms used and successes

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide standardization, coordination, and leadership support in rolling out food relief/support services for key and priority populations in Addis Ababa
  • Provide technical support in implementing client and facility linkage for key and priority population groups
  • Review practicability and availability of food support services, document lessons learned and best practices

Job Requirements

What are we looking for? The basics

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, sociology, social work or health-related field
  • Three years’ experience in food-support chains/providing food relief for underserved population groups

What would get us excited?

  • Proven record of working with food support structures in Addis Ababa
  • Proficient in English and Amharic languages, both written and verbal communication
