Job Description

SCOPE: The Position mainly involves community level hygiene and sanitation promotion activities, NFIs distribution, awareness raising on prevention of COVID-19 and the other ERR response activities under the supervision of ERR/HP officer based in Shire FO.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The ERR/HP officer under the supervision of ERR/HP officer will participate on rapid assessments and Reports to the Hygiene Promotion Officer in Shire.
• Participate in assessment of hygiene and sanitation situation for specific emergency responses or locations.
• Prepare detail Hygiene and sanitation promotion plan at specific intervention/location.
• Disseminate hygiene and sanitation messages.
• Facilitate community level hygiene awareness campaigns and prevention of Cholera
• Organize and Facilitate Training for community representatives on Hygiene and sanitation and, COVID-19 Cholera control.
• Plan and organize distribution of emergency supplies to the community.
• Promote latrine use and provide technical support.
• Conduct clients joint targeting, verification and distribution of the NFIs distribution
• Mobilize the targeted communities for NFIs/ distribution, Hygiene awareness and facilitate the hygiene campaign with mobile van considering the COVID18 risk mitigation.
• Establish Client feedback mechanism.
• Facilitate PDMs together with the ERR/HP officer and MEAL team.
• Works closely with Woreda Water and Health Offices, Health centers, Clinics and kebeles towards efficient and effective implementation of the response;
• Works closely with other IRC program staff in the field office.
• Produces activity progress reports and submit to the supervisor.
• Flexible to be deployed out of duty station whenever emergency occurred and called for intervention by Emergency Rapid Response program.

·        Takes additional works as assigned by ERR Manager, Assistant EH Coordinator, ERR Coordinator.

Job Requirements

• Diploma in public health, Environmental Health Science, Health extension.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience for diploma holder and 0 work experience for Bsc holder with the above,
• Hygiene and Sanitation in Emergency response
• Communication in English, Amharic and Tigrigna
• Ability to use computer (basic operating systems) experience & skills in community mobilization.
