Job Description

  • Plans, organize, leads, coordinates and controls the overall day-to-day operation /program execution of the association
  • Prepares the strategic plan of the association in consultation with the Executive Board and department manager
  • Based on the approval by the Executive Board, recruits, select, develop and dimmiss heads and managers under his/her span of control
  • In accordance with the Associations human resource policy and relevant government rules and regulations transfer, recruits, demotes, dismisses and gives prizers for employees of the Association
  • Leads the development of data based for all midwives and midwife students in Ethiopia
  • Designs grant proposals for international NGOs and Government organizations
  • Leads and coordinate the preparation of annual work plans and budget
  • Monitors the overall programs and projects of the organization in the line with the tools and strategic plan
  • Participates in the development of standards for monitoring the quality of teachers and the performance of participators
  • Designs resource mobilization strategic for the Association and communicate potential partners nationally and internationally to strengthen the midwifery in Ethiopia
  • Ensure the service provided by the Association fulfill the members requirements
  • Opens and operates bank accounts of the Association
  • Represent the Association before any third party or court or appoints an attorney
  • Submits periodical reports to the executive Board on the overall operations of the Associations and
  • Undertakes any other activities assigned by the president of the Association and External board carry out the activities incidental to the above

Job Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree and above in Midwifery, Reproductive Health, Public Health, Nutrition, Nursing, Health Informatics, Economics, Project Management with midwifery background
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years after second degree/ Master’s and 3 years in Managerial Positions. Experience in international and national NGO environment or workings in donor-based systems are advantageous. Extensive knowledge and experience in managing partnership and grants from UN agencies and government organizations like FMOH and regional health office is a benefit
  • Project/Program Management training certificates
  • Leadership/ management/ or resource mobilizations
  • Demonstrate commitment to the vision, mission, core value, aims and participate of EMwA, including equal opportunity, gender sensitivity
  • Proactive, flexible and problem-solving skill
  • Creative and strategic thinker
  • Strong leadership skill
  • Excellent writing, editorial and communication skills, including strong presentations skills to report result to major donors, national and international partners
  • Board knowledge of maternal health issues and policies in Ethiopia
