Duties
EnCompass LLC is seeking a Translation Consultant to translate multiple documents from English to Oromo. The time frame for this consultancy will be up to 20 days over a period of 4 weeks. The documents to be translated are data collection tools, including interview guides, focus group discussion guides, and consent forms for a Gender Assessment under the USAID TRANSFORM- Primary Health Care project, which aims to contribute to Ending Preventable Maternal and Child Deaths (PCMD) by strengthening the health system in Ethiopia. EnCompass is part of a consortium of implementing partners, led by Pathfinder International, working together to support the operationalization of the governments’ Health Sector Transformation Plan at multiple levels of the health system.
The ideal candidate will be fluent in both English and Oromoand have prior experience in translating technical documents.
This is a 4-week consultancy starting on January 18, 2021.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential functions:
Technical:
- Review all documents in English
- Conduct translation of documents from English to Oromo
- Respond to any feedback on the translation in a timely manner
- Submit final translated documents to the Senior Gender Advisor by the last day of the consultancy.
Job Requirements
Academic Qualifications
- Minimum of a Master’s in Public Health (or related field) with at least 3 years of experience in RMNCH programming
Experience and Skills
- Strong expertise in translation of technical documents
- Preferred experience in translating data collection tools into Oromo
- Fluency in Oromo and English
- Strong technical and writing skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
