Background

Ethiopian Construction Design and Supervision Works Corporation (ECDSWCo.) is transforming and diversifying from the current consultancy business operations. Taking advantage of the existing ECDSWCo.’s strength and maximizing on the newly emerging external opportunities that are being prevalent with the shifts in Ethiopian Economic Policy – the Corporation is aiming to play a significant role to the success of the Ethiopian Construction Industry -by creating a vibrant business institution that will not only fill the gap that is in the current construction industry, but also replace the need for having international construction companies that are dominating the government mega scale projects.

To this, the Corporation is emerging as an Engineering and Investment Group. The proposed name of the Group is ‘’Ethiopian Engineering and Investment Group (EEIG)’’. The Group will comprise of three main operational business units i.e., Consultancy, Construction and Investment.

EEIG-Construction business unit key activities are high-end complex construction projects, predominately high-rise commercial and residential buildings, real-estate; infrastructure (roads, railways and airports) & water and energy sector construction. EEIG-Construction alone would grow into a conglomerate of several business units including Piling, underground and foundation Works, Fit-Out, Energy (Solar Solutions), Electro- Mechanical Solution, Facility Management, Landscape and Construction Materials Production.

EEIG Construction is launched with the vision of being the best construction company in Ethiopia with a strategy of Timeously executing high-end complex projects, by utilizing proactive management skills as a Design and Build Contractor in order to achieve an optimum return and aspiring to be a competitive and preferred choice that can replace the current dependence on international contractors and deliver excellence. EEIG Construction will uphold Courage, Integrity, Reliability, Value for its People and Innovation as its core values.

As its first project – EEIG is going to build a 30 Floors High-rise Headquarter Building in the city center of Addis Ababa – that will be design and build by its inhouse consultancy and construction business units.

Scope:

Manage the quality function of the project from initiation to close out ensuring the adherence to project schedule and contract requirements. Develop, implement and maintain quality management system for the project.

Provision of Management Systems to support EEIG to ensure Group, Business Units, Project Quality Assurance Plan and Client requirements are met, and that national and international standards are implemented.

Responsibilities:

  • Will plan, organize and manage the QA/QC team for the implementation of project quality management system.
  • Will develop and implement project quality plan
  • Develop and implement internal and external audit schedule; and conduct and organize audit as per the schedule.
  • Coordinate with third party laboratories for initial testing activities and material testing. Verify the test reports for the compliance to specification and submit to the consultant. 
  • Develop and establish a comprehensive schedule of all planned material submittals based on the project schedule.
  • Coordinate with team, subcontractor and consultants – to ensure the progress of materials submittals is according to the project schedule. 
  • Will Establish and maintain the project Quality System documentation on the project in accordance with EEIG Quality Management System and International Contract.
  • Will Establish and maintain Quality Assurance records related to the project
  • Will plan all Quality Assurance activities in conjunction with Project Leader and Planning Manager
  • Will go through the project scope of work such as drawings, specification, Quality Plans, Contracts, project program
  • Will Advise the Project Leader regarding appropriate preventive action following the occurrence non-conforming work
  • Will assist the construction team establishing ITP’s with relevant disciplined Consultant
  • Will control non conformities, disposition and corrective actions
  • Will monitor the identification and traceability of activates and records
  • Will review sub-contractor quality plans, method statement, risk assessment, ITP’s, check sheets
  • Will audit sub-contractors to ensure they abide with the quality plan
  • Will prepare an audit schedule
  • Will support the assessment of suppliers and sub-contactors
  • Will assist management in preparation of handover documentation
  • Will prepare a monthly report on quality performance for work packages on site
  • Will develop and monitor against a set of KPI’s for the project

Reporting to: Project Director

Job Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Civil Engineering/Construction Technology Management or Diploma in Building and Construction

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years 
  • The ideal candidate shall have an international experience/or worked with international companies here in Ethiopia – and have a proven track record of the successful management of the mentioned functions.
