Job Summary

The incumbent of this position represents SC values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. These values and principles include commitment to the mission of Save the Children international, team orientation, quality management and leadership development, introducing systems and procedures to strengthen staff motivation and productivity. The selected employee will be responsible for providing technical support to the SCI and government staffs for the implementation of emergency health. Ensure program implementation is in line with the planned budget, conducting training and monitoring effective implementation of program and ensure program performance is in line with the international and national standard.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • S/he will be responsible for ensuring good integration of key organizational principles and approaches such as child participation and M&E throughout emergency health project cycle. Among other tasks, the position holder will be responsible to ensure lessons derived through implementation of emergency health response projects are well articulated, documented and disseminated both internally and externally.
  • Oversees the implementation of emergency health in SWAN Project implementation areas and ensuring that the quality standards and state of the art are met.
  • Ensures effective start up, management, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of emergency health across the implementation areas.
  • Provide support and guidance to implementing partners; assess response needs & provides technical assistance for government /partners on need assessment and response plan preparation.
  • Facilitate trainings for health professionals in on public health emergency management and surveillance
  • Participating in and/or leading emergency health/ multi-sectoral assessments as required.
  • Conducts regular field visits to provide technical assistance to the implementing partners and evaluate for quality program implantation
  • Closely work with the supply chain, warehouse to ensure that program supplies are dispatched appropriately, that they are efficiently used complying with donor requirements, and that reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Communicate emergency health response program achievements against agreed strategic objectives and milestones, and any emerging new evidence of public health emergency response for a wide range of internal and external audiences
  • In collaboration with senior public health specialist, ensure timely preparation and implementation of phase-out strategy.
  • Responsible to ensure timely and high-quality technical support to emergency health response projects throughout the project cycle

Job Requirements

In order to be successful you will bring/have:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in public health/ nursing or post-graduate degree in public health.
  • Minimum 5 years’ field experience in humanitarian work, including significant experience in emergency health.
  • Very good advocacy, communication and representation skills
  • Strong analytical, writing, and problem solving skills
  • Good supportive supervision skills and ability and willingness to travel to the field and support project in urgent situations
  • Good presentation, training and facilitation skills; fluency in spoken and written English; good computer skills
  • Familiarity and working experience with emergency health response donors, implementing partners
