Role Description

The Technical disability inclusion Advisor will provide support to the partners, project staff & stakeholders implementing the five years project in Harar, Diredewa, Addis Ababa & East Harargie of Oromia region on disability. He/She is also responsible to provide technical advise to the organization on disability inclusion programing.

The Disability inclusion advisor has also responsibility to develop different guidelines and manuals that supports the program implementation in the field and enhance coordination among partners. Furthermore, the position will have technical inputs and responsible to develop project proposals related to disability inclusion programs on different calls and available funds for interventions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Provide regular technical support to the We are Able project staff at field
  • Supports the program progress report write up to produce quality reports to country office
  • Support the project staff on provision of trainings to enhance their implementation capacity
  • Supports/contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of disability inclusive policy in collaboration and coordination with partners, relevant government line ministries and other stakeholders
  • Create different capacity development program opportunities on disability inclusive programing
  • Provide technical supports to partners to undertake disability inclusive development programs in the intervention areas
  • Initiate/participate in project development on disability inclusion programs together with program quality team
  • Closely coordinate and collaborate with field office coordinator, consortium coordinator and project officers to attain the intended objectives of the program
  • Provide regular technical advice to the field office coordinator on disability inclusion programing to attain quality program achievements in the area

Program Quality

  • Provide technical advice on different publications, TV spots, radio serial programs & documentary videos on promotion of disability inclusion
  • Prepare training packages regarding disability rights and disability inclusion technics
  • Support on documentation of case studies, best practices and lessons learnt on program implementation
  • Disseminate different learning documents to program staff to increase understanding on implementation of disability inclusion programs
  • Produce presentations on best practices and program achievements to be shared among different consortia members implementing similar programs in a conference/forums
  • Facilitate different learning forums on inclusive programming among partners in consultation with field office coordinator
  • Support ZOA on expansion of disability inclusion programing to implement in different parts of Ethiopia
  • Produce different guidelines/manuals to ensure quality program implementation on disability inclusion
  • Create internal and external professional networks and relationships on disability inclusion to enhance implementation capacity of the organization/partners

Monitoring, Evaluation and Information Management:

  • Coordinate, facilitate and mange different research, baseline and evaluation works
  • Conduct periodical program monitoring visits to the field in consultation with field office coordinator to provide technical supports
  • Participate in the joint monitoring programs together with consortium members and government officials to maintain quality program deliveries
  • Review program progress reports coming from program partners to produce quality program reports to the donor
  • Disseminate information to key stakeholders regarding research findings relevant to disability inclusion.
  • Participate in different review meetings on the We are Able program

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or master’s degree in social sciences, Project management & other relate development fields
  • 5 years of professional experience in development, specific to disabilities area is advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to lead, build and work effectively in team situations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Commitment to and understanding of ZOA’s aims, values and principles;

Key Competencies

  • Technical knowledge in disability mainly in disciplines such as disability study, human rights, comparative disability law and similar fields
  • Technical knowledge on international and national disability frameworks
  • Experience in advising government, non-government and mainly persons with disabilities organizations on disability inclusion and disability rights
  • Experience in the development of policy analysis and other manuals regarding disability inclusion
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with strong cross cultural communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop and maintain networks of communication with a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated training and presentation experience
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Fluency in English and Amharic
