Purpose:

The project officer who is assigned at project site level will have the overall responsibilities on the We are Able project implementation in the wereda/sub-city in collaboration with consortium partners staff and relevant local government structures.

 ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Prepare Work Plans for the implementation of project activities in consultation with Project Coordinator against the time frame in the area
  • Design disability awareness-training activities and prepare training materials
  • Provide trainings to different stakeholders on disability inclusion program as required in collaboration with project coordinator
  • Support different stakeholders at intervention areas in their efforts to mainstream disability in to their services
  • Identify and promote innovative technologies accessible to persons with disabilities and ensure utilization among the youth with disabilities.
  • Support the capacity building initiatives of organization of persons with disabilities and ensure their effective participation in the projects
  • Ensure the active participation of communities in identification of people with disabilities for project targets & supports
  • Represent ZOA/consortium at wereda level in different government and non-governmental platforms
  • Ensure the proper monitoring of the projects in line with project indicators, and provide data and information to the project coordinator based at Harar
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports of activities accomplished and submit to the Project Coordinator as per the deadline
  • Document good practices of the projects and share to the project coordinator

Job Requirements

Education/Qualification:

  • BA or Master’s degree in Social science fields; Social work, psychology, social psychology, social anthropology, social science, project management, development studies & etc.

 Experience:      

  • At least four years’ experience for BA holders and 2 years’ experience for MA holders
  • Proven experience working on disability inclusion programs
  • Experience working on consortium projects is advantageous
  • Experience working in an NGO atmosphere  

Required skills:

  • Basic Computer skills
  • English language (very good in speaking and writing,) Working local languages of the area is advantageous
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Perform additional assignments from the project coordinator as required.

  • Good knowledge of CHS and capacitate partners to work in adherence to CHS;
