ABOUT THE POSITON:

The Roving MEAL Officer will be responsible for ensuring the on time project related routine activities are in line with project objectives (Data collection, compilation and reporting. S/he will be responsible for promoting knowledge Management and Learning across sectors and projects in the field programme as well as for the community-based approach of the organization by working with the grass root level staff and different community structures.

The MEAL officer will be directly supervised by the regional programme manager and will have technical relationship with HO MEAL Unit, HO PQA and PO sector officers. Accordingly, the area progamme manager is the direct Supervisor (solid line) and technically supervised (Dotted line) by HO MEAL Coordinator. During performance objective setting and appraisal of the incumbent, the MEAL unit feedback has to be requested.


S/he will work closely with front line staff to ensure the application and existence of appropriate MEAL and transparency systems (promote Participatory monitoring, providing feedback to the community, etc.). S/he will also take part in field level qualitative and quantitative assessments and evaluations.

  • BSc/BA and/or MSc/MA degree in social science, information/Computer science, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation related fields.
  • An experience of 5 and more years for first degree and 3 and above for master’s degree
  • Knowledge of statistical software.
  • Knowledge of basic monitoring and evaluation and research tools
  • Well organized, which gives attention to details and have some analytical sill
  • Computer skill particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skill
  • Firm belief in teamwork, Gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, participatory approach and sustainability
  • Proficiency in English and local language, both verbal and written

Desirable qualities, skills and competences:

  • MSc/MA degree in Social Science, Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation related fields.
  • An experience in the humanitarian sector
  • Utilizing advanced programming and statistics software (such as SPSS) to compile data and information for various systems,
