Job Summary

The Managing Director (MD) is accountable to the Board of Directors and has the responsibility to lead the management team to formulate the strategic and operating plan of the company and the ultimate responsibility to implement the company’s strategic and operating plan once approved by the Board of Directors. The MD provides the strategic vision, planning, and operational leadership to ensure that the mission, goals and objectives of the Company are fulfilled in accordance with the direction and policies established by the Board of Directors and the key duties included in the Company’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.

Main Specific Duties & Responsibilities.

  • Working with the Board Chairperson to enable the Board to fulfill its governance functions effectively and facilitating the optimum performance by the Board, its committees and individual board members.
  • Formulating and recommending for approval to the Board of Directors the annual operating plan with the budget in the context of the approved strategic plan and implementing the approved operating plan and budget.
  • Reporting on timely basis all relevant information regarding the company’s operation. Developing and presenting alternatives with the recommended courses of action to the Board for its consideration.
  • Providing leadership to the Management Team for the realization of the mission, goals and objectives of the company.
  • Providing general oversight of all company activities, managing the day- today operation and ensuring a smoothly functioning, efficient organization.
  • Ensuring the development of and adherence to operating policies, systems and practices that meet the direction set by the board and regulatory requirements,
  • Ensuring the efficient utilization of financial resources within established policies of the company, making appropriate and timely financial and management decisions.
  • Ensuring the use of an effective financial performance measurement system, financial management and record-keeping and administrative systems to ensure efficient utilization of company financial resources within the objectives, policies, plans and budgets established by the board.
  • Ensuring that the company maintains good customer base through the provision of quality services that is in the best interest of the client without compromising the minimum standard set by the school
  • Keeping abreast with relevant laws and conforming with the requirements of the regulatory body.
  • Ensuring that the company working environment is safe and that competent employees are attracted and retained, motivated, guided, directed and developed to contribute fully to realize the company’s mission, vision, goals and objectives.
  • Ensuring that control, monitoring and performance standards and mechanisms are in place, relative to the utilization of all company finance and human resources.
  • Representing the company in all its dealings with third parties including legal issues brought by or against it.
  • Identifying opportunities and proposing new methods of improving existing operations with a focus on bottom-line results.
  • Keeping abreast of the business and economic climate in which the company and its stakeholders operate by new trends and developments in the market.
  • Initiating and undertaking studies to generate additional income from other business opportunities with the aim to maximize company’s profit.
  • Performing other duties as required and assigned by the Board of Directors from time to time.

Job Requirement

Required Qualification and skills

  • Master’s degree in Business Management, Accounting & Finance or other relevant fields.
  • Overall work experience of 8 to 10 years out of which at least 4 years in a senior management position.
  • Be goal driven, leading change, and motivation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in using general purpose software such as Microsoft office applications and internet communication.

Remuneration and other benefits  

Basic Salary Birr 23,801.00

Vehicle for with 100 lit, per month

Health insurance up to Birr 3000

Free school enrollment for 1 child only
