Job Description

Advisor for Sustainable Supply Chains

GIZ-Internal/External Vacancy Announcement #004/2021

SUVASE

The “Sustainability and Value Added in Agricultural Supply Chains in Ethiopia (SUVASE)” project was initiated in August 2020 with the main objective of increasing the sustainability of the coffee value chain. SUVASE builds on the achievements of the 1-year pilot project “Innovations for Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains in Ethiopia (ISASE)”, which supported – among others – 13 coffee cooperatives in the Nono Sale woreda and their umbrella organization, the Sorgeba Union. SUVASE will scale up the activities initiated by ISASE in terms of time horizon, geographical area and scope. In addition to Nono Sale, the project will also implement activities in Didu, Alle and Becho woredas of the Ilubabor zone. In these four woredas, the project plans to strengthen the extension service, increase the coffee quality, diversify household incomes (e.g. through beeswax production), promote sustainable practices and improve the protection of the natural forests. Also, SUVASE aims to create linkages between the producers in Ilubabor and the international market.

SUVASE is currently represented with offices in Addis Ababa, Metu and Nono Sale. The duty station for the vacant position is Nono Sale and the advisor will be responsible for activities in Nono Sale and Didu woredas.
