Key Responsibilities as a Team Leader
- Leads the whole response activities of the emergency response project which targets the people affected by the conflict in Tigray Region
- Leads and manage the project monitoring and quality assurance and budget management;
- Supports target groups in promotion of their livelihoods and other services.
- Leads the development of procurement, activity and budget plans for the project;
- Leads the project team in reviewing progress and results, identify gaps and solutions and share technical ideas for the project staff as well as his/her supervisors
- Supports all staff with technical and management inputs relating to project activity plan
- Contributes to the development of new project proposals;
- Selects target communities and project priority groups jointly with project staff, local government representatives and communities and other relevant stakeholders,
- Ensures that project activities are implemented in time and assistances are provided to the needy population without delay
- Conduct training on relevant thematic areas and other project interventions;
- Provides technical backstopping and facilitation, work closely with partners, field staff, and cluster based stakeholders, networks, and community members to ensure achievement of objectives in timely and cost effective manner;
- Facilitate that regular meetings are conducted by the project staff and reports are prepared and submitted to the Head Office in a timely manner
- Collect and documents beneficiary lists, distribution lists, stories and pictures of the project at each stage in the project implementation.
- Ensures that CHS, visibility and staff safety and security systems are in place
Key Responsibilities as a WASH Person
- Responsible for the study and design of rehabilitation of water development schemes and sanitation facilties,
- Produce study and design documents construction specifications, bill of quantities and construction schedule for the water supply schemes and sanitation works to be carried out as part of the project.
- Facilitate the water infrastructures, sanitation and hygiene provision to the community on time with the needed quantity and quality,
- Facilitate the work to make the water systems to function properly and sustainably
- Ensure that there is system in place for maintenance of water supply schemes as well as water users’ committees are strengthened
- Supervise water and sanitation works,
- Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly work plans for water supply, huygiene and sanitation works based on the project document,
- Ensure that all activities are implemented according to the plan and Inform the project supervisor any deviation for timely decision,
- Supervise the quality and quantity of work of the water supply and sanitation schemes and related construction activities,
- Supervise rehabilitation work of different water supply schemes,
- Prepare necessary monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports of the project and submit to the project coordinator/supervisor on time,
- Responsible for materials and properties allocated for the project,
- Ensure the establishment and strengthening of community water users committee and also make sure that the water and sanitation works are sustainable.
Job Requirements
Required qualification and Work Experience:
Masters or Bachelor Degree in Water Resource Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water Supply & Sanitation & Environmental Engineering with Minimum of 3 years relevant experience for Bachelor degree and 1 year for Masters Degree. Experience in managing a humanitarian project is highly advantageous.
Key competencies:
- Knowledge of Amharic and Tigrigna is mandatory
- Strong communication skill in English (written and oral)
- Ability to interact with people
- Experience in preparing drawings, designs, and BoQ of water supply schemes;
- Experience in supervision of construction of water supply schemes;
- Capability to ensure full participation of communities and concerned line departments at all levels;
- Actively nurtures good relationships with people across all organizational levels and boundaries, and with government bodies & stakeholders.
- Proven experience in preparing work plan and report and submitting timely;
- Knowledge and Experience in CLTSH, SLTSH, and PHAST is highly welcomed;
- Knowledge of water supply design software
- Computer Literate
- Previous related experience in NGO setup is an advantage
