CARITAS Switzerland (CACH) has been working in Ethiopia for more than 30 years. Currently CACH cooperates with four partners in Ethiopia. Recently, CACH has successfully been registered as an International Non-Government Organization in Ethiopia and has therefore become operational at project implementation level. CACH’s main working fields are the field of agricultural development, and food security, WASH as well as supporting and implementing emergency and relief operations. Our current working areas are in Southern and Eastern Oromia Region, SNNPR and Sidama. CACH supports and implements currently different projects in these regions.

Summary of Duties

The Driver is responsible for safe transporting of CACH staff and goods and assuming technical responsible for CACH country office vehicles and that they are in a safe working condition and operational. She/he also deliver official documents to different places of government offices and partners. The driver will be based in Addis Ababa with frequent travel to the project areas. 

Main Areas of Responsibility

• Drive CACH staff from Addis Ababa to projects in sometimes remote locations sometimes over several days;
• Bringing and picking up CACH staff to and from the airport, sometimes beyond normal working times;
• Transport of CACH staff within Addis Ababa to various places;
• Supporting the Office administrator in procurement and settling bills and delivering documents to various offices;
• Maintain vehicle log books and maintenance record sheets;
• Contribute to maintaining vehicle usage plans;
• Perform any additional task as per the instruction of the supervisors.

Job Requirements

About you

The ideal candidate represents the majority of the below mentioned areas:

• At least five years of experience preferably with international NGOs, companies or missions in the same position;
• Solid understanding of vehicle maintenance;
• High sense of responsibility, reliability and good behavior;
• Experience in long distance travel in different parts of the country;
• Preferably in the possession of a recent (no longer than 3 years) 1^st aid certificate;
• Professional fluency in Amharic and good English skills, local language is an advantage.
