Job Summary
- Providing basic first aid for minor injuries
- Conduct thorough physical examinations on an employee in order to
- establish pre existing medical conditions or determine physical ailments acquired in the workplace.
- Evaluating an employee’s health and providing initial diagnosis on medical conditions, maintaining employee health records
- Evaluate and manage non-occupational illnesses and injuries that may affect a worker’s health and safety in the workplace.
- Monitor work area and equipment conditions used by personnel for potential dangers, safety compliance and suggest job modifications for all employees
- Educate employees on preventative measures against occupational hazards
- Promote healthy living and working conditions,
- Provide counseling and support to personnel
- Ensure that the company is up to date with public health and employment safety legislations.
- Responsible for assuring the appropriate access and utilization of healthcare services
- Manage all cases to facilitate productivity, assuring appropriate care and return to work
- Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty.
- Commit to Occupational Health and Safety standards. Frequently state and articulate that Safety is our No.1 priority. Adhere strictly to the site safety rules and systems and equipment operational procedures.
- Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health. Provide regular reports to the Production Manager, Human Resources Manager, Board of Directors/Senior Management Team on health and safety activities.
- Participate in meetings when required to report on relevant health & safety matters. Liaise with bodies such as healthcare providers, third party administrators, legal advisors, medical director, regulatory agencies, etc.
- Assure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations
- Work with SHE manager to implement and promote health and safety activities on site.
- Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services
- Administer the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program.
- Assess healthcare needs, then implement and manage healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work, maintain OSHA records/ reports and worker medical files
- Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Active state nursing license as registered nurse. Bachelor’s degree and certification in occupational health nursing or case management preferred.
- Basic understanding of federal and state regulations applicable to occupational and environmental health and safety.
- Excellent computer skills required (windows, explorer, outlook and Ms. Project).
- Fluency in Amharic & an excellent command written & spoken Eng
