Job Summary

 The Program Manager is responsible for managing emergency nutrition project within Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Nutrition global portfolio. The Manager is accountable for coordinating project activities and outcomes across stakeholders (technical, award management/finance, administration, country and movement-wide) to drive deliverables and ensure the effective flow of resources across the portfolio. The Manager will oversee all aspects of the project, leading on work planning, deliverable tracking, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring donor expectations are met and deliverables are completed within scope and budget. The individual will also take on roles in capacity building and knowledge management specific to emergency nutrition. Example responsibilities include: technical resource management, , national and regional training organization and updating key tools such as nutrition related toolkits and videos. The Manager will coordinate with other departments as well as internal and external stakeholders to ensure all project components are completed and disseminated. The individual will have a role in driving continuous improvement, maintaining project monitoring systems, ensuring best practices and program learning are disseminated across the organization and partners.

Job Requirements

  • Work with project team to create detailed work plans and track project performance to ensure all activities are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget;
  • Coordinate the team throughout all project management phases including support of international training and technical deployments;
  • In coordination with team members and SPM/DCD, detect, report and recommend solutions to project-related issues;
  • Escalate issues or risks as appropriate;
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, consultants and third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation using multi-media platforms;
  • Submit deliverables and ensure they adhere to quality standards
  • Perform any other relevant, project-related duties when needed
  • Organize technical trainings including coordinating with facilitation team, liaising with country and regional partners on logistics, managing participant communications, organizing scholarships, supporting financial oversight, monitoring and reporting;
  • Contribute to the revision of technical resources such as training materials and toolkits;
  • Participate in developing best practices, sharing resources, and ongoing trainings
  • Maintain emergency nutrition knowledge management resources in consultation with the team, including updating training databases, technical curricula, toolkits and videos
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills; analyze and recommend process improvements
  • Support the development of concept notes and proposals through discrete tasks as requested, or through an assigned role on the proposal development team .

Education / Experience Needed

Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing or other relevant field of studies with 3 years and 6 years relevant experience respectively, in an emergency/development context; Minimum of three years NGO experience    

  • Management experience in wider emergency response programs.
  • Experience in working under difficult circumstances and conflict environment
  • Experience of managing multi-sectoral teams
  • Finance Management skills and some experience in donor compliances
  • Good analytical, monitoring and evaluation skills
  • Excellent ability to write good quality reports and proposals in English.
  • Experience in nutrition related projects is advantageous
  • The ability to work in teams/ isolated situation and stressful environments and under pressure meeting deadlines.
  • Initiative and be able to work with minimal supervision.
