Job Description
Essential Function
- Sorts and takes machine listed run ups of cash and non-cash transactions of saving, current, special saving, fixed time deposit (CDT), foreign and loan account daily tickets and compare the result with the balance on the subsidiary account daily posting journal;
- Checks for pre- audit and post-audit as required of saving, current, special saving, CDT, loan account daily tickets and fund transfers (Drafts, CPOs, MTs and TTs) and verify the balance of subsidiary trial balance accounts against the General Ledger;
- Checks particulars of payment instruments; ensures that payments are effected per approved policies, procedures and directives of the bank;
- Files and keeps custody of daily tickets, vouchers, supporting documents for the transactions along with the posting journal and general ledger every day and also files month end printouts;
- Checks the opening of new accounts and relating supporting documents checks closed account documents of current, saving and special saving accounts and files closed account documents;
- Checks loans and advances including overdrafts to ascertain that they are disbursed according to the committees’ decision on the loan approval form (LAF);
- Surprises and checks cash L/CY; cash F/CY s, petty cash, revenue stamps and tracers of suspense accounts and confirms the balances and records against the general ledger;
- Counts cheque books and verifies its balance against the general ledger and reviews long outstanding items;
Job Requirement
BA Degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Management and any other related fields with 6 months to 1 year of experience in internal/external auditing, preferably in banking industry.
