Job Summary
Responsible for leading and coordinating the planning, implementation and monitoring processes of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), GBV, and protection programs in May-Ani and Adi-Harush refugee camps. Integrates security issues, guarantees compliance with protection and ethical principles. Facilitates the development, management and reporting of proposals; employs, educates and mentors staff, volunteers and partners; and collaborates with related actors, sub-clusters, working groups, legislative agencies, other organizations and partners. Oversees integration and mainstreaming of gender, youth & GBV considerations in the IDP, Refugee, and host community response.
Principal Responsibilities
Key Result #1 –Program Planning
- Regularly conduct situation analysis and needs assessment in the refugee camps and host community, and potential areas of intervention in Mental Health and Psychosocial support.
- Liaise with actor agencies for maximizing available sources of information and opportunities for coordination, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical recommendations
- Through assessment, identify protection concerns for women and girls, risks of GBV, points of service and support for survivors, and appropriate priorities and approaches for programming.
- Plan for appropriate emergency interventions as well as opportunities for expanded programming, including identification of local partners, support structures to reinforce, and appropriate points of entry for MHPSS & GBV case management services
- Regularly reports assessment findings and recommendations
Key Result #2 – Program Implementation
- Ensure that the MHPSS interventions are appropriately integrated in the refugee camps.
- Ensure that the project addresses women and girls’ protection through relevant information dissemination, advocacy, trainings and coordination with other sectors and partners for MHPSS & GBV mainstreaming
- Lead the establishment and delivery of key services2825 Services likely include psychosocial support for survivors of GBV, safe spaces, and support for medical response
- Ensure that all interventions comply with technical standards and safety and ethical guidelines
- Ensure appropriate community participation in the design and delivery of program activities
- Build the capacity of partners, staff, volunteers and coordinate on required training and coaching sessions
- Conduct regular program monitoring and compile activity and donor reports as required
Key Result #3 – Coordination
- Coordinate with all relevant actors and actively participate in protection/ GBV sub-cluster/working groups, coordinated assessments, mapping of services, information sharing, etc.
- Coordinate with other MHPSS and GBV actors, including local organizations and security representatives
- Identify and support local organizations committed to women’s rights and empowerment
- Work with partners and community members to develop a referral mechanism for available services
- Coordinate with other sectors as possible to ensure integration of GBV concerns into various interventions, in line with the relevant UN and government Guidelines.

- Extremely flexible, and the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations
- Experience
- At least 6 years of work experience in managing MHPSS & GBV prevention and Refugee/ IDP response programs Preferably in an NGO setting.
- Prior emergency response experience strongly preferred.
- Education/Certifications
- MSC/MA in Social Work, Public Health, International Development or other relevant field of study preferred

- Provide adequate time to staff to participate in gender sensitivity workshops and related events.
- Through observation, interviews, and spot-checks, ensure that the staff planning process is gender sensitive.
- Build a better gender balance in staffing through affirmative action.
- Observe if women staff are as involved as men in high-profile activities such as interaction with visitors and chairing meetings, and take corrective action if warranted.
- Encourage female staff to participate in external networks (local and regional), as well as seminars and cross visits.
- Facilitate open and regular discussions with staff on about the work environment, policies, and values convenient to gender issue
Safety & Security Responsibility
- Encourages compliance of Safety and Security principles and policies of the organization by all staffs;
- Visiting project Offices and operational areas periodically to meet staff and making sure that all staff members are aware of the safety and security procedures;
- Explains to staffs the reasoning behind the organization’s safety and security policies and procedures;
- Organizing local training sessions, such as First Aid, Fire Safety, and Defensive Driving for staff members. If possible, he/she should conduct briefing and training sessions himself/herself;
- Ensures that safety and security objectives are added to performance reviews and evaluations of all staff members;
- Encourages staff to adopt safe and secure practices. Ensuring that updated personnel information related to safety (Record of Emergency Data) and security management are kept in Human Resources;
