Job Description

Job Summary

The job holder is responsible for all editorial works on all materials written in English and Amharic to allow the Bank meets business standards of written communication.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Edit Policy and Procedure manuals of the Bank before they are published.
  • Proofread and edit reports and working documents and provide comments to improve with accepted and agreed quality and standard.
  • Translate written materials in Amharic into English and vice versa.
  • Prepare editorial manual for the Bank along with a set of guidelines and standards to be followed with a focus on quality deliverables.
  • Review the publications of the Bank and check for accuracy, appropriateness, style, and consistency.
  • Review and revise materials for publications in newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and/ or websites.
  • Proofread, and improve materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation and consistency.
  • Work closely with all staff members to help them improve their writing skills and produce highest quality reports with international standards that meet the best quality, including formatting, design, layout, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirement

  • Masters Degree in Foreign Language and Literature, Journalism, Mass Communication, or other related fields with at least five (5) years of related work experience.

Required Competencies

  • Quality focus and attention to detail
  • Strong editorial skill.
  • Excellent writing skill in both English and Amharic.
  • Proven skill in translation and interpretation from and into English and vice versa.
