GIZ has been supporting the African Union (AU) on behalf of the German Federal Government since 2004. With around 20 regional and continental technical cooperation projects in line with the AU's stated goals, the GIZ AU portfolio is now active in 49 countries across the continent and has staff in 17 countries of Africa.

The GIZ AU Office in Addis Ababa is looking for an Intern who, with creative will as well as openness to piloting and innovation, contributes to the further development of this dynamic GIZ portfolio and supports us in making the GIZ Office to the AU efficient and cost-effective through digitalization of processes.

Responsibilities:

• Providing support to the GIZ AU newly established Finance and Admin Service Units,
• Supports in digitalization of administrative activities. 

Tasks:

The intern will undertake the following tasks and produce relevant deliverables:

• helps maintain all GIZ standard software (e.g. APS, AMS, MS Office, WinPACCS, SAP)
• helps update and purchase new software
• helps regularly update antivirus software
• assist in illustrating the processes in Service Units (graphics, design, tables, PPT)
• assists in creating channels to communicate projects with Service Units
• Support in preparing PPT for the Annual Planning.
• Upon request support the documentation of activities like seminars, meetings etc.
• come to agreement with the team about their tasks and activities on the list mentioned above
• provide with materials for approval of the team
• resolves all computer and internet problems, prepares all the necessary information and provides phone support
• assists in advising on IT projects
• maintains a list of all hardware and software systems, and updates this to reflect changes
• documents the installation and settings on the server and on all computers

Job Requirements

Required educational qualifications, professional experience and competency

Qualifications

• A graduating software engineering student or related area;
• Fresh graduate
• Familiarity with relevant software designing and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel;

Other knowledge, additional competencies

• Strong interpersonal and service skills;
• Strong organization and time management skills
